Canon 500D with 17-55mm

Yeah I know. OT a bit, what's your take on having both 5D2 and 7D; which one would you carry with you for travel if you can only take one camera body? I'm also thinking of getting 5Dm3 if it's out next year; gotta collect FF lens.

Just bought 17-55mm. I know I wouldn't regret. Already I am seeing some difference on test shots. Looking forward even more to my Japan trip.

agree with someone's post regarding the 15~85 f2.8 dream >.>
but if they made that no one would buy the 17~55 if both the IQ are equally good

I will refer 24-70mm IS USM L then... 15-85 F2.8 will be freaking heavy, freaking expensive.

well, i still bring the 5D2 everywhere i go unless i am focal length challenged (zoo/birdpark/distant stuff).

But this is probably because I don't have a suitable walk around range lens for the 7D. Image quality, 5DII beats the 7D definitely, but technology and ergonomics wise, 7D definitely better than the 5DII. Besides, the 7D does not offer me any size/weight advantage over the 5DII, being similar sized and in fact, heavier.

When the 5DIII combines the tech of the 7D with the full frame IQ of the 5D2, it will be time to retire my 7D & 5DII pairing.
