Hey, NIKON side seems like using different strategy for COMEX 2007...throwing in tones of freebies...

That's the only way they can fight with Canon since their new products are not launched yet....

That means 17-85 IS USM cost $800. Hmm, a new lens cost $860. Save only $60.

In June the 17-85 was $910, grey $770.

Looks like Nikon is out to conquer the entry level DSLR market.

You may not just compare the spec on paper, something is normally could not be written clear and compare, just like D80 and D200, spec so close, but in actual operation there are many different

same thing on D100 and D50/70/40

need a deep view and physical test it!

for Cannon

xD --- professional
xxD -- semi-professional
xxxD -- beginers'

for Nikon

Dx -- professional
Dxxx - semi-professional
Dxx -- beginers'

these their product positioning,
there are many different in between classes

Canon selling $399 for lens 55-200mm II USM if you buy EOS body. I think one shop here is selling this lens at $380.

Is it worth paying $2299 for 40D body + 17-55mm IS lens? [Imply $200 for lens]

I heard MS color is selling the 40D body only at $1899.00, can someone confirm this?

I foresee the price of the 40D to be sub-2000 if you forgo the free gifts at Comex.

Went down to MS at AMK Hub at 12.30pm today.

40D not there yet. Some delay :dunno:

Selling price quoted as $1899 (body only)

Tried out the 40D at Comex. It's quite a bit beefier than the 20D/30D.

Thicker grip, heavier overall. It's quite a change from the 20D/30D, but IMO, if you have either the 20D/30D, there is no real impetus to change.

Does the selling price of $1899 come with the standard free stuff that is currently being offered at comex show?

Not sure if exactly the same.
