can you share with us why you want to upgrade to a 350d??

I bought a used 300D from a user who 'upgraded' his camera to 350d?

Reason? It's his backup camera and he welcome the new compact size of 350d.

Me? I'm keeping my 300d as it good enough for my use.

Of course, 300D is the most valuable DSLR that I owned so far. I hv no problem with 300D but given a chance if you don't need to pay any extra cents but given a free change from Canon to 350D, everybody will jump in and grap it.

Now, I will only consider an upgrade as to change to an high feature model, e,g. 20D or 5D. thanks to many whom given me advise and opinion.

maybe you can consider 10D if you are on a really tight budget.

Where is a good place to get a 350D?

Sorry, I am quite new to this forum.

i m current owner of 300D, i dont think i will go for 350D in the near future. may be 20D, as i like the dial, very useful.
also, i find 350D grip too small for me.

The reason why some people keep upgrading is so that they can have the latest and the greatest for minimal cost. They sell early so as to cut down the loss due to depreciation.

My opinion is to keep the 300D or consider the prosumer series instead - of course, if you have the budget.

Hi everyone

I own 300D also, until today I still using it. I tried 350D be4 n the girp design is more suitable for gal lor. Well I wouldnt sell my 300D for upgarding. And if I want to upgard, I will buy 20D lor. The reason is the 5 fps n the focus is faster. But think twice be4 upgarding because u got to look after ur packet lor.

Been using the 350d for the past 5 mths have to say it's good but it's kinda of small. Smaller than my eos 30

No point get yourself caught in the rat race. There will be always something better as there is always improvement. As long as this camera can chun good picture for you, stay on to it, as your skill is more valuable than then the technology.

I will not upgrade to 350D, no doubt it's a 8 megapixel camera but the body size sucks, at least 300D with the Battery Pack can accommodate larger scale lenses like 'Bigma', I think if you have lenses which uses 72mm or larger filter, this will make 350D a clown....Ha Ha!

By the way, upgraded to D60 with BG-E3.

I owned a 300D for about a year.

Still learning about it, although tend to be too busy to shoot enough.

I "graduated" from using a G2. Shoot a lot with that. Realized I wanted to be able to see the pictures through the lens rather than on the LCD. I was shooting scenario a lot with a wide angle adaptor. That's why I bought the 300d after using the G2 for more than 2 years.

My 2 cents worth. Keep the camera and go for better optics. I am using a Sigma 18 -125.

:D :)

i don't think the body size sucks... with the battery grip its quite ok. BTW, i use a 82mm diameter lens on my 350D.

i think you should upgrade if you really feel that you need to. no point getting influenced by others if you don't even feel the need to upgrade.
if you really want to "spend some money", perhaps buy new lenses?

I think concentrate more of getting good pictures from your camera and when u decide that u need/want to play with more functions to get more creativity in them, upgrade prolly to the next level ie 20Da or something.

No point changing cams on the same level unless too much money/ cam breakdown or super obsolete.

At the moment, i dun think the 300D is obsolete as yet.

i think we should go step by step up like 300D -> 20D -> 5D -> future 1Ds??? haha

Hi,

I bought my 300D about 1 and half years ago and still love it till today although 300D is considered as obsoleted and replaced by the latest version 350D at the same price, better features... If you see the advertisement for Canon, you can't even see 300D in the league.

Some of my friends had sold off their 300D to upgrade to 350D..and though you still hold on to your faithful 300D, sometimes, you have no choice but to consider this option.
Are there any 300D fans there thinking of upgrading their 300D? Anybody know anywhere that accept upgrade at a good trade-in price?

a 300D user and Canon lover!
:D

well i'm hanging onto mine cos i'm waiting to get the 20D replacement! ha ha.. anyway, the lower noise would really be useful for me as i shoot at 800/1600 quite often.

i don't really bother about the megapixels but it doesn't hurt to have more either.

The reason for me to upgrade form 300D to 350D

1. Small and light - compact to carry around
2. Start up time faster - sometimes I miss my shot due to slow startup
3. Better exposure - My 300D tends to underexposure most of the time.
4. 8MP - can do more corping
5. faster write speed and picture review - can shoot more at one go, review faster.
6. Better built-in flash - won't cause shadow when using my 17-40mm
7. Brighter viewfinder.
8. Better build.
9. AI Servo.
10.Flash compensation.

thanks, just want to know why 'undutchable321' better?

Like I said it had FEC, Selective Focus, ISO 3200 and Custom Functions.

Regards

300D have this problem. when using external flash, say i center focus on a person's face, and i recompose, the center focus ends up in a dark area, the image will be overexposed by the flash as the camera will meter the flash based on the final area that the center focus ends up with.

10D etc can have the custom function that disenable this. does 350D have that function?

I don't have this problem though.
Perhaps, when you have to take a picture of two persons standing with the dark background, you can use center-weighted metering mode to focus on one of your subject and use the spot (*) before you move to the centre, which is between the two persons' head. By doing this, you can stay at right exposure..... just my experience when I shot last night at Orchard Road Christmas's lightings as background and two children as subject in front with low frash (-1 1/2 stop) + EF50mm f/1.8 lens.
