Bro, here only looking at 70-75mm, yours is 600 or 800mm liao lor..

btw, You haven't show the tentage you have to lug around to hid yourself inside ar :bsmilie:

the 24-70mm is build like a brick.
since u like red ring just go for it as iam sure the quality won't upset u,but you must have the skill to match up to its quality..haha

Hahahaha that tripod alone is already scary.

Anyway yeah I'm skinny, on the low end of BMI scale. If I can bring my laptop or 70-200 around, I guess most of healthy CS-ers here *should* be able to carry that body + 24-70 mk1 around.

i dun need tat matador lens hah
i almost decided but looking at the post seeing more ppl support red ring made me swing

Use a red tape to stick on all your lenses to have that red ring.. ;)

Most of Tamron zoom lenses I had used the focal ring turn in opposite direction compare to Canon lens. And the position of focus and focal ring of Tamron 24-70mm VC is different from lens like the Canon 24-105mm too. But not much of issue, just need to get use to it. When just stated to use it, often turn the focus ring by mistake when wanted to zoom.
For me I prefer lenses with IS/VC if available as I don't really have very steady hands. And after carrying heavy equipment for while may get tired and sometime suddenly need to turn body to make a quick shot. VC/IS/OS etc help bit.

If you don't really need that f/2.8 and want Canon brand. Can also consider 24-105mm f/4 or 24-70mm f/4. Both can bought as a kit together with 6D. Both lenses with the red ring too.

Headache? Look at own budget and decide. Budget decides everything so long as consumers are concerned.

BTW, this is only a 300mm lens. Of course a 2x Teleconverter is attached, making it a 600/5.6 lens. 500 and 600mm lenses are much much bigger than my humble setup.

This is a very common range so manufacturers would like to grab some share of the pie..lol

 only 300mm! I dread to imagine those longer ones... 小白 is already a pain when shooting for long hours liao.

Canon provide good aftersale service. It's more pleasant experience if you need to service your equipment in future.
Tamron singapore is run by its sole distributor GSH. Does anyone has experience in servicing their Tamron lens locally?

Personally, my standard walk about is a 24-70mm f2.8 L + 5DMkII (without battery pack)
I don't know why everyone said it feels like a brick leh.... I've been using it since 2008 and no complains when I bring it about with my 3 kids, travelling overseas (Free and Easy) and I rather this to a portable compact camera.

The image quality is way worth it.... priceless in fact.

Maybe bcos I am a dad with 3 kids and arms toned by frequently carrying them.

They are still young and I do carry them with the camera around me at times, especially when overseas with family.

Get what you think its worth bcos honestly, if you buy something your heart don't desires... you will keep thinking and straying and hoping... sleepless nights.. no point imo.
Just my 2 cents.

I am just toying with the idea of upgrading to MKII as well as upgrade my 70-200mm f2.8 L also to the MKII (damn tempted)... ;P

Good luck with the shopping but if this is a hobby you won't ditch, I say go with your heart and get what you desire most.... not poisoning you... just my opinion as I've been there done that wasted more money for less

off topic.. when travelling with kids, I find a good backpack (Kata) really really worth investing as it makes the weight feelings lighter perhaps.... Just an suggestion.

I just have to eat bread for 2 mths for a mk 2 haha as for 70-200 is my next target which have to eat 2 more mths of bread....

Only 2 months of eating bread... compared to the years of enjoyment your brand new 70-200 Mk II will provide you... I say do it!!!

Put a little peanut butter between the slices and the time will go by fast! ;)
