I strongly believe they will re-use the sensor that is similar to 450D.
When 1000D came out, it is the same as 400D - 10MP.

I agree. from the market segmentation perspective, the specs should look like this:

- 12mpx sensor
- Digic IV
- ISO 100-3200
- 3 FPS
- 7 AF pts
- 3" LCd 230k or 460k
- Movie Mode 720p 24fps/30fps
- My wish is for a smaller and lighter body, if Canon has some creativity, this would come in various colors like red, white, black, brown and champagne
- priced at S$999 with kit...

This would be a killer camera that many would buy over the 500D.

Who would buy the 500d then? I don't think canon will kill it's 500D sales considering it came out recently.

Yeah, I'm more interested in 35mm f1.8...

lol. the spec mostly better than my 20D. maybe i should "upgrade" to it :bsmilie:

It's unlikely for Canon to release the xxxxD with better specs than their latest 500D unless they were planning to refresh it... xxxxD is for people who want to try out using a DSLR at the lowest cost.

XXXD and XXD will target different market and different photographers. When I first got into DSLR, XXD puts me off cause of the size, weight and cost. Bought a 450D and said to myself that I'll never be interested in XXD. Very happy with my rebel.

But now, I can't wait for 60D so I can get my tiny hands on one! :bsmilie::bsmilie:

Agree...

over at dpreview forums, someone spotted this and saved a screenshot from the Swedish canon support site:

That is the exact same question people would ask when considering the 450D vs the 1000D.

I guess some would prefer the higher frame rate, more AF points, higher mpx and better lcd. That is the same reason some people bought the 450D over the 1000D in the past.

This is also the reason I expect the 2000D to have a 12mpx sensor and not the 15mpx one as previously posted, just to create that differentiation as with 1000D vs 450D.

Just checked their website again. The site now showing D2000 and D6000 as oppose to 2000D and 6000D and yes they do have 5DMII. Check this page out. I think Canon is switching the letter to the front for all their new models.

As if it wasn't bad enough that people can't differentiate between Nikon and Canon bodies (whether the D is in front or behind, like D40 and 40D), they're now going to make it even more confusing.

I think the D2000 is an extermely old canon camera right?:dunno:
