Was expecting Canon to give a kick ass specs to answer and redeem themselves. Was expecting
a dual digic 5,
Non stop FUll HD recording with Auto AF.
45points selectable AF points
Build in wireless
18MPs @ 1.3crop
15FPS with RAW.
To be honest, they have a lot to redeem purely on the AF front. The 1DIII was a major marketing disaster especially among its target audience with its focusing problems, and that as much as anything else pushed people to the D3 over here. The camera got a bad rep that is never easy to shake, and repeated "fixes" which didn't actually fix the problem didn't help.
You can have 200mp with noiseless ISO500k but it doesn't matter one jot if your important shot is out of focus. Sure the problems are greatly exaggerated, but thanks in part to the Internet these problems spread like wildfire and more or less were the death of the 1DIII, which otherwise was a very good camera indeed.
Interesting choice of words.....
This upgrade should be called 1D3n
It is like the 20D -> 30D upgrade. This upgrade should be called 1D3n
So why don't you think the 30D should have been called the 20Dn then?

So far we only have rumored specs, but some are saying its going to be 1.3x crop with 32MP.. yes, a whopping 32MP.
I wonder if the 32MP true.
:
1D Mark IV,
it should be using 2 CF card slot like D300s, because CF and SD is useless,
That's crazy,
Canon will not had using 32mp on a 1D series,
if that so, Canon will make a larger resolution for 1Ds Mark IV :bsmilie:
1D Mark IV,

WFT built-in in the body, around 18mp to 21mp, faster fps, 12fps or 15fps :bsmilie:
Could change the form factor like D3S from FF, 1.6X, 1.3X ;p
Higher ISO 51,200, 102,400, H1 : 204,800, H2 : 409,600
Someone's been testing the Canon 1D Mark IV already.
Here are the Canon 1D Mark IV specs:
* 1.3 crop
* Images ~16MP
* ISO 50-26500
* 8MP sRAW1 format providing images that seem to best 1D3 files in detail [typo corrected]
* Very clean images at ISO 3200. 6400/12800 take further processing very well
* Slightly faster FPS than 1D3 in real life shooting
* AF greatly improved and very good in low light (actual comment was Nikon fast ;-)
* Liveview AF not up to fast sports use, but very usable otherwise
* Video as with 5D2
* Screen as per 5D2
* Ergonomic improvements with grips some buttons moved
* Feels faster and more responsive in nearly all aspects of real use.
not sure how true this is, but someone commented on the engadget site with these specs...
http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/19/canons-eos-1d-mark-v-dslr-defying-death-launch-tomorrow/#comments
(see comment at the bottom dated last night)
Specification have now been confirmed here in Tokyo, the camera will be named the 1D Mark IV and the specs are as follows:
- 21.1 Megapixels
- Full Frame with 1.3 Crop Mode
- 8 FPS in Full Frame Mode
- 12 FPS in 1.3 Crop Mode
- Dual Digic IV Processors
- Native ISO 25,600
- Boost Mode ISO upto 102,400
- 45 AF Points - 39 Cross
- 63 Zone Metering
- 1080p @ 24-60 fps
- 720p @ 120 fps
- S-RAW Video
- HDMI HD video output
- 3" Fold & Tilt LCD Screen
- Self Cleaning Sensor
The actual body ergonomics haven't changed a great deal, with the biggest difference being the new Fold & Tilt LCD and the appearance of large hot keys beside the screen, that look slightly like the ones on Phase One Digital Backs.
There will also be three accessories at launch:
1. VDSLR Mount System
2. XLR Pro Audio Module
3. 1TB Flash Recording Module
The XLR Pro Audio Module and 1TB Flash Recording Modules are made to connect into the VDSLR Mount System to convert the camera into a fully fledged Video device, changing the form factor into one that Filmmakers are more familiar with.
WOW!! If this is really true
