Which focal length is best if I were to stand at Merlion and shoot at Marina bay Sand casino buildings

At first , the reason I choose 24-105mm over 17-55mm is that it can withstand slight rain but later found that 24mm is not wide enough for indoors.
In the end I got 17-55mm too cause I found 17mm is much better for crop body and the fix f2.8 work much much better in low light area (indoors)

Since then always used this combo :
indoor - 17-55mm (never worry about rain cause only used indoors)
outdoor - 24-105mm (lots of space to move around outdoor and wont running for cover when start to rain).

Personally, it worth every single cents having both cause they serve very different area for me.

I agrees with you.... it is totally 2 very different usage.... 24-105 can complement each other well..... ;)

Canon 24-70mm +Canon 70-200mm HAHA i like.................;)

I wld think 17-55 & 70-200 will be a good combo... :)

Just to sidetrack a bit...

I am relatively new to DSLR systems. Recently upgraded from a bridge camera to the 60D. Through beginner's luck perhaps, I managed to snag a 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 from BnS for a good price to use as my general purpose lens. So far I find it a pleasure to use, and the distortion and vignetting at 15mm f/3.5 looks very acceptable.

But I keep hearing good reports about the 17-55mm f/2.8, many calling it the best EF-S lens made ever. Since I don't use the 85mm end of my lens that often, I am mulling over whether to switch to 17-55mm for a small top-up. The effect on the wide end will be noticable, but if it is THAT much better, I'll live with it and take a few more steps back (if situation allows).

Any comments? BBB virus?

I'm also liking the 17-55 + 70-200, which is my kindda like my "ultimate" combo.

But to sidetrack a bit, the price of getting a Tamron 17-50 (non VC) and a 70-200/4 (non-IS) is only about $100 more than just getting the 17-55 alone.
Would I be better served getting that combo instead? Or should I look at the 70-200/4-IS instead?

Hi,

i was also reviewing these 2 lenses, and impressive, but when i checked on some shops here, they didn't sell this model anymore, any idea where i can get the tokina 50-135mm f2.8 / Sigma 50-150mm f2.8?, though i also consider the canon 55-250mm f4-5.6, but don't like the aperture.

tnx.

is IS important to you? if yes, pls skip the combo you mentioned.

can try getting the Sigma 17-50 OS HSM + Tamron 70-300 VC USD.

if you're shooting with a lot of light, the IS wont ever matter because the shutter speed will compensate for it.

but as with anything in life, its always nice to have :)

above plus 10-22mm and u got everything covered

poll is would be more useful if narrowed down further to sensor type.

if it were based on sensor type...id say this was a crop sensor discussion. if not its hobson's choice since full frame users cannot use the 17-55 rendering this poll moot.

like most already mentioned. if Crop body prefer 17-55 otherwise will be 24-70 :)
