If want to put they might've put long ago.

I dunnoe... the things they put into their line up is quite puzzling anyway.... 300D,400D,30D, 5D and 1Dm2n are pretty much a suprise to most photogs.

Not really....400D wasnt much of a surprise. So was the 30D

As Jedi said, not really a surprise which i agree. But the other thing it's sort of a breakthrough for Canon is the anti-dust technology found in 400D.

I dunnoe about others but it's a suprise to me that they included the 9pt AF and pretty significant buffer increase.

400D, like 350D is too small.

too small for you, but not for people with smaller hands.

I tried the 400D today, compared to the 350D, is is actually much better to hold than the 350D, because of the recession at the back of the camera.

I got a 10D and 30D.

Initially, I tot of holding on to my 10D untill it's really beyond repair and change/upgrade 30D when future models are available. Reason being, I (still) hate the 30D mirror slapping. Ultimately I'll proceed to 1 series once Canon target of extended DR sensor is available (hopefully within $6K).

However, recently there is some change of usage as my wife is using it as secondary photographer. I find that I'm leaning more to ef-s for her setup which would be lighter for her and she worn't need to use my lens which I got no duplicate focal length range.

So, now still considering should I have a 10D + 1D non-efs combi or 30D + 1D combi.

Won't that just mean that you cant use her cool EFS lenses too? might as well stick to the 10D and keep in line with canon's L series of EF lenses... I dont see Canon putting an EFS mount on the 1 or 5 series ever in the near future...

so sad.... :( what kind of photography do you do? so many shots? sports photography perhaps?

Event photography.
Sometimes go for sports...Any bros @ the Netball thingy lately?

Have you tried plonking on a vertical batt grip? It can improve handling.

One thing i don't like abt the 400D is that the rear LCD is constantly on and only turns off when u want to take a pic due the the proximity sensors below the viewfinder. Maybe there's a way to turn off the LCD without powering off the camera as i think it's quite battery draining.

I mean that I'll get a 1 series body and a 1.6x body +ef-s as backup. Instead of doing nothing in my bag, I get my wife to be the secondary photog. I dun mean she will use the 1 body nor will I be using the ef-s unless required.

well...there is a way to turn it off....but how're you gonna shoot without it?
I know that the info is there in the VF...but not all info are in there.

I've played with the 400D several times. It's rather simple to disable to LCD. If I need to look at info such as ISO, I just hit the INFO button. Simple. :bsmilie:

yup... it's the weight. she's using my 24-105 IS on the 10D and it's pretty heavy for her already (haven't add flash yet). Tink the better option would be 17-85 ef-s pretty all-in-one lens or the 17-55 2.8 also not bad.

The 17-55 f/2.8 IS weighs 645g while the 24-105 f/4L IS weighs 670g. Not too different, huh?

Haha the broken part is gonna take some time.... never perhaps?
Striking lottery... that's another one that's hard to guess when... LOL GOOD LUCK!
wah if i strike I can stop studying and start investing...

Ha ha bro, I used to think that it's real heard to break a camera... well until I wore it out a couple of years back. Anyways so long as my 10D still works I'm fine with it. I have a habit of checking out what gear was used to shoot the pictures that I admire and everytime I see 'Shot with 10D' I remind myself I've not used mine to her fullest potiential yet.

As for the lottery well... we all can dream, can't we?

I've had the shutter unit replaced once a year back though.
Just wondering how much longer the sensor will last:think:

not unless they break down or theres a great drop in the price of FF or 1series.
my 2 10d babies are reliable and just the right size for my hand.
not of my clients have asked for poster or wall-size prints yet so the 6mp will suffice

how about the 17-85?

They should've included the main LCD for the infos, but have to reduce screen size for that.

Geez I never thought about that yet... How durable are canon's CMOS sensors anyway... not much news heard of D30s and D60s sensor wearing out yet...

and how much is it just to replace a sensor? i might have to strike toto first...

I dream of striking lottery... but its quite a demoralising dream i have... each time i buy it and each time my ticket fails me... :(
