Quite easy. I learned acoustic guitar some 6 years ago. Now learning classical. But my children are so much professiona.

This is my youtube site. http://www.youtube.com/user/jktham .I was out from photography from year 2000 to 2008 but involved in video instead.

Take a look at my kids guitar playing skill (Aling & Luqman). Aling is my first sponsored kid (my eldest godson).

haha =D yea
easy to learn ? :D

hi guys, need some inputs and suggestions from all of you here. I own a 1000D & 1)18-55mm kit lens 2) 50mm prime lens and 3) 75 - 300mm III USM telephoto.

My questions here will be:

1) What will be my lens if I have a chance to be a 2nd photographer in a Ballroom Wedding Dinner? My idea is to get candid shots of the bride and groom (face expression mainly from hip or chest level upwards) and let the official photographer shots all the family etc.

2) For a start, what flash can I grab?

3) ISO in a ballroom? 800 or 1600?

4) Any other tips please....

1) Depends on the situation really. How near can you get to the couple? If I were doing it I would probably take the telephoto zoom with the 50mm prime for natural light shots in my pockets or something. I am not sure about the focusing speed with that lens though.

2) Any E-TTL II compatible flash since you probably don't have time to manually fiddle with exposure settings during events. 430EX II and 580EX II are good choices. Bring enough batteries =p

3) Depends on the amount of noise acceptable to you. Try it out in your house or somewhere with similar lighting (museum?) beforehand and see the results.

4) Try not to get in the way of the main photographer, and just relax =p Have fun!

Hi Bro Mahathir,

I think i will meet you guys at the zoo entrance. I stay at woodlands, it feel silly to travel to AMK then go up north again, while going to the zoo from woodlands is much nearer if compare to AMK. Hope you guys understand.

Thanks,

Vin

Cyaaa.....

hey haslansalammmmm,.

hehe,,,u wana take wedding shot eh..best nyeeee.
anyway i have a uncle..hes a wedding photographer...

using a nikon d300 if i not wrong..

what i can see when he bring to wedding is..a must to have external flash..at least 2 of it..1 master and another as a slave.(dun aske what master what slave...dis is what he told me la last time..hehe, i dunnow how he operate it) if he do portraiture...he will bring his wallpaper stand..and wallpaper(very old skul..orbit mannnn.hehe-hope he dun read dis). and the flash got diffuser.

k he use 2 kinda lens..
1 prime and another is normal zoom lens(dunnoe what the range), k dis is what i see la..and ur flash must have flash diffuser..

anyway bro haslan..r u taking this wedding pic seriously on the event itself or just for fun..or the bride or groom appoint u to be their photographer(very serious dey)..
Coz if they appoint u..i advise u better do alot training...anyway is it a malay wedding or chinese, indian, angmoh..blah,blah???

Coz..my uncle ever told me about the schedule when takin wedding photography..(for malay wedding)
This is what he told me.. u need to get down to the location 1st and recce the neighbourhood area..find ur great angle for ur afternoon shoot on the arrival of the groom. or the moving out of the couple. den recce the house...check on the lighting..because alot of action will be concentrated 1st. like the preparation of the bride, family members in actions, barang2 hantaran..most important akad nikah, must be very creative,...this moments are very important..u really make them smile if u get their
greatest moments.

Then during the move out of the couple to pelamin..that also very important..all movement must be captured..is best to have spare batteries and memory card..in case anything happen... Very tiring geng,..i tried once on my cousin wedding..just for fun la..very tiring..hhehehe,...but fun, only that i reall looks cheapo la..because my gear is not well equip..hehehe.but for fun is ok.

but if u doing this for ur own experience..then should be ok la. but if u r the photographer. i guess u go training..how..tommorow wanna try museum..museum is indoor right..but indoor got wat ah?..can take photo or not..hehehe..i just suggesting. since tommorow i'm free. hehehe..

For fun ok la..hehehe. k tommorow its ok..if malay married a chinese.its become baba wedding bro..heheh. anyway abt the flash..u can get a 3rd party if u could not afford the 430 or 580. i think u can rent it if i not wrg..try renting la bro. at least u can get the feel.. i think peninsula plaza got shop can rent.

For 3rd party u may want to consider nissin, sunpak or vivitar. k all d best bro..shoot something creative..then u shpw the pic to ur cousin and ask him to compare with the paid photographer which better..hehehe.

Bila bila 1000D...hehehe

Wow!!! Great to see that everyone's alive and kicking after the rain in ponggol!!! As usual..with help from Cakka the man from the Cakkarudie clan...Hope to see some pics soon!

Bro Haslan

I know of a guy who takes wedding shoots part time and he uses tight lenses like 24/35/50mm primes and a 17-40mm F4L...and shoots in raw. Never ask him abt flash. no zooms...

Bro,

1) You might wanna try renting the 17-55 f2.8.. Best efs lens.. L-lens IQ and good low-light performance without flash.. Good bokeh effect too..

2) I'd not use flash in your situation as it might wash out the ambient light, and also to remain discreet.. But if you must, either 430EXII/580EXII would suffice as mentioned.. Do set aside a few days to familiarise yourself with both ETTL/Manual flash modes..

3) Depends on lighting conditions.. If you intend to use flash, of course ISO could be lower..

4) As mentioned earlier, stay out of the main PG's way.. Try to stay discreet so as to be able to capture 'moments'.. Enjoy the experience and have fun..
