Hi IR gurus...I have a spare camera which is Canon 1000D. I like to know, can the 1000D converted to IR? Thanks

Hello camo460,

It's a relatively new camera, this 1000D.
Not sure if the band-pass filter in front of its sensor has IR-blocking properties conducive to IR photography.
I am sure if you wait a little longer, the real expert in the technical department of IR photography will come in to answer your question.

I'm also a newbie, but I have a friend who is using an IR converted 1000D.
So the answer is yes. :)
And because the camera has live view function, the camera can be even converted to full spectrum
and can even be used for astrophotography.

But take note that during conversion, the auto sensor cleaning function will be disabled

here's an explanation by an IR guru about the options to choose from
