any more things that i should know about this thing .....before getting it ?? :p

i dont wanna make a wrong decision

Always check for dead pixel before buying...

Way to check:
- with the lens cover on, power on the camera.. this is to make the LCD goes all black. Then check if there is any pixel that is other then black color. That is the dead pixel.

Try all the basic feature on the spot, make sure flash work, zoom work, etc...

Happy shopping!!!;)

Hi uncle_will, (I assume you are quite coming with that nick ;) )

If you look through the forum, you will find that most members buy their cameras from Cathay Photo, Alan Photo and John 3:16. They provide reasonably good (dare I say professional ;) ) service and competitive prices. It will be prudent for you to check their prices before buying. Hope this helps :)

got mine at CP for $439
128MB CF $80
Slik U6600 + Bag $55

i recommend u to do a equote from CP's website 1st
the price they quoted me is lower from what they gave me when i went to the shop...dunno why...

I wouldn't really say that Alan Photo provides reasonably good or professional service... While their pricing can be very competitive, they also are likely to chop u if u don't know what's the market price.. IMHO, go to Alan Photo ONLY if u have already done all your product and price research... ;)

Go with someone more experience...;)

the price of canon A40 has dropped.

but first of all.....do u want compact or more manual?

canon A40 is more bulky as compare to ixus......but it can use external filters ...etc.

2mega pix, use 4AA batt.

able to take night shot too. got quite a lot of manual functions...but can also use its auto...or programmed functions.

video mode only up to 30sec.

AP sell it around $390 [saw other pple's msg.]

but plz do remember......a camrea may cos this price.....but after that...the buying of accessorries cos a lot too!

Actually my purpose for getting a dgcam was purely for normal usage i.e, taking pix for family and friends and pets. Dun think i'll be professional enuf to go buy the accessories... I'm actually quite blurred by the terms manual/compact, etc... Can recommend a cam suitable for me?
