Can NEX6 replace my DSLR

aiya, I already posted something in another thread about FX vs DX. Don't want to get into another long argument.

Actually the basic about DOF is the smaller the subject the easier it is to get thin DOF as your subject distance is very small. Basically, with NEX I think the best you can do is the zeiss 24mm f1.8 which is around f2.7 in terms of DOF compared to FF. That is around two stops worse than FX.

Technically speaking is different from real life shooting. I can also do a thin DOF full body people shot with a RX100. It's not a question of which camera can or can't, all cameras can, but the FF camera can do it better under similar condition. The way you put it, quote "For me, the DSLR is used only if I want to achieve thin DOF." sounded like only DSLR can do it. You did not even mention FF DSLR only. I am not trying to argue with you on this topic but simply pointing out the way you put it was very misleading.

For action photography, definitely DSLR. Other than that a mirrorless should be able to do the job.

Just feel that the pictures from the Nex is not so crispy as compare to the FF DSLR.........................:(

This is interesting . Usually people uses resolution, dynamic range , dof control , iso performance to compare qualities of iq from different sensors. Crispiness is unusual . You care to elaborate further ?

Technically what u said will apply to all non full frame dslr and mirror less if true.

Then neither would any aps-c dslr meet your crispiness standard

It make me feel like, alot of FF users does not really know the bits behind the camera.

Its ok , this is a nex6 thread , so no need to go into FF details =D

Yeah, which is why I wonder why he even said that nex is not sharp, then it involves full frame, etc. Seems like it's just a lot of nonsense blah blah
