i'm planning to buy a video camera which is user friendly, which price range is within $200-400, and could shoot in low light with high iso and good aperture.

Could you inculde the make, model, and place to buy it? thank you so much

Go for Panasonic Lumix GH2
Base on this review http://www.eoshd.com/content/8528/z...coppola-and-audience-majority-give-win-to-gh2

Endorsed by Francis Ford Coppola, no less.

Gh2 not suitable for his needs.

It's for tech ppl who know how to hack and properly set the camera to have it looking good.

Plus, need to manual focus, use tripod, etc.

With the money, I rather he buy a Sony rx100 or a Olympus odm. Both are already better looking than an unhacked gh2 and you can use freehand due to inbuilt stabilization. Plus can shoot photo.

Olympus 5 point Stabilization is awesome. You can run or shoot in a car without problems at all. The only reason why I'm still using canon is:

1. The good lens they have that looks amazing with 5d3.
2. The codec h264 is still easier to edit compared to sony's avhcd or Olympus's terribly inconsistent codec.

Olympus OM-D now enables you to record in h.264 packaged in MOV container.
I believe subsequent Olympus will also be the same. Frankly, this is an excellent format.

Correct codec but it's not consistent. Bitrate goes down to very very low rates sometimes (I think 0.5 mb/s) which creates mud on images. This happens if u tripod the cam and the thing u shoot is not moving much.

I think it will be awesome once they update it or some hack comes out.

Olympus method of loading firmware - no chance to hack as they rely on online authentication to install the update.
Unlike Panasonic which you can side load via SD card.

I didnt know Oly vary their video bitrate. And the frame rate of OMD isnconfined to 30fps. I guess most prefer 24 or 25 fps.
So i guess GH2 is still the best other than their use of AVCHD format. A hacked GH2 will be awsome. Lets hope for better GH3.

Yeah. Gh3, in sept. But if they create a hard to hack system, it's going to disappoint.

If cannot hack omd then have to depend on official firmware to save it.

Back to the topic. Ts can look at the current crop of sony camcorders too. At least they are real video cams which u can grip the cam via the strap which helps in longer shooting.
