Hi, I am a fan of pictures taken by Holga and Diana. But, I am afraid of the fragility of their plastic quality, although I love their plastic lenses. Any recommendations of other cameras that are able to produce effects similar to the above two cameras?

you can get the holga lens for nikon or canon and use it on the respective film cameras. best of both worlds albeit a little more telephoto.

ooooh! Is there such a thing? Any recommendations where I can get it?

Seen some photos from that combo. Used on a 35mm SLR ... ermm ... the results just don't have the magical feel of photos coming from a Holga/Diana (using 120).

There are some other plastic lens cams like the AMI 66 etc. There are some 'crappy' old TLRs that are pretty neat too ... like the Votar Flex.

Wow the Votar Flex really is a camera of it's own. I own a Yashica C, not saying that I am not satisfied with it, but the Votar looks great! Any heads up where I can find it? Haven't seen it around peninsula.

Actually the Holga & Diana ... tho plastic ... they are pretty durable. I've used them for years and even my boy dropped them ... they are still perfectly fine. :D The Votar Flex or whatever other cams that are like the HOlga/Diana ... are also plastic. Hehehe. BEst way is to gaffer tape them. :P Votar Flex etc can be found in eBay sometimes.

agreed. the details on 120 is much better than on a 135 and certainly has more magic ;p

using the hl-n as an alternative to the 135bc sans the black corners :bsmilie:

Actually Holgas and Dianas are not as fragile as u think even though they are made of plastic. If u use it normally and carefully, it should be fine. They are also relatively cheap to begin with.

Otherwise, u can buy some of the older MF TLRs such as Seagull/Hai Ou, Rolleflex or Lubitel range (but Lubitel also made of plastic).

Have fun in your Lomo journey! :)

Holgas are not fragile. I have dropped mine with no problems. I'm actually thinking of getting 3 more for when I travel.

thanks for the assurance. I'll see to it then. But does that mean that there are no other cameras that produce similar effects?
