Camera policy at the new National Stadium (Singapore Sports Hub)

Nowadays a lot of compact / bridge cameras have extra long focal length, right?

Something like.. canon powershot sx700, Sony hx50v, or perhaps panasonic lumix tz60. I supposed these are usable & within the rule boundary?

That said if I manage to bypass the interchangeable lens portion , bringing in a Pana 35-100/2.8 on an EM10 (3 axis Ibis lol) should be doable and u get 200mm reach.

Good luck in training all the security to differentiate cameras.. Besides interchangeable lens there are also the prosumer P&S. :bsmilie:

Anyways we are just guessing what their rationale is.. If it's to prevent commercial use, why is there a need? Do the people using the stadium always care about whether there are commercial shots made out of the event? For this, professional sports/event photographers may know better. As for physical size, I can't think of a rationale. Avoid people from knocking each other? Public safety? :dunno:

It may be better for them to state the basis. Sure, they don't have to and it may invite more questions, but I think if reasonable, most people will not question further.

Training is one thing, they have to help their staff by coming up with proper rules that are not open to interpretation by anyone. At this point, it doesn't seem clear. To be honest, it is a little disappointing, given the hype of the new dome new hub wow wow whee, but in the end their rules and guidelines are simply (not sure if this is the right word) not professional enough. And yes, we are guessing their rationale, and this will simply be the divide between the consumers and the business. In the end, they may still fill their stadium. But for me, the joy is killed.

The tickets are so expensive, why would anyone pay that amount not knowing if they can secure profitable shots then sell later? :bsmilie:

lol, winz. but we both still will be denied entry unless we get something like the RX10, which might fail the 200 mm physical length of lens test too :bsmilie:

for me , i've gotten very sick and tired of battling these archaic rules and of course 'camera bouncers'. Nowadays if i wanna attend any concerts, its HK where any camera equipment goes and of course locally wise, I boycott the events and in the rare occasion I do go, I just bring along the X100s or something similar.

Brought my em10 and 40-150mm to the Juventus match. The lady at the gate hesitated when she saw the lens, and relentless let me through. Might not be so lucky next time.

I recommend Canon SX50HS. Small and concealable.

Sure can take a picture of a person sitting at the other (long) end picking his nose. Have being proven at this distance.
Although I can't guarantee the sharpness.

I think all these bans mean one thing.

Exclusive (money)right for the photographs of the players esp the famous athletics.

Can you imagine if the next year SEAP Games they ban (zoom lens)camera?

I think its at the old Oasis side there. If the match is going to start, that will definitely feel damn far. :bsmilie:

thats why would be better go in early then worse come to worse go deposit. For me i was stopped and told to go there deposit but match is already starting soon and i saw a loophole to attack so i just dont care and walk through to reason out with the guards' supervisor.

They won't care one. It won't hurt their business. In the end, japan vs brazil also sell 30k of tickets.

Actually this rule about no photography (and no recording) has always been part of the T&C for all similar events, but just that they never enforce. Therefore even for PNS, they are already closing one eye. But recently as DSLR / Mirrorless systems became more widely used, they started to enforce it.

get a compact 300mm/400mm prime, SUPERGLUE it to an A7/A6000/XT1/EM1/EM5 and ask the security if they think you could still change lenses on that camera.

if they don't allow, are there any lockers at the sports hub to deposit the equipment ? OCBC aquatic centre have free lockers but must pay to get in.

BTW, how do they check when you enter? are there x ray machines to scan and do body checks ?
