It sux!!! Everything around is sooo blur with a noctilux...
I got a promoter friend who demo the DSLR to some foreign customer and the customer complain why the DSLR is so bad where the 500+ dollar lens on the camera cannot take everything clear.
His cheap pen ink cannot flow well and he has to constantly scrape on the paper and actually get poor result due to too much time wasted and lack of concentration as he is badly distracted by the bad ink flow.
It takes 2 hand to clap. I am sure that the photographer is important just like the exam taker, even if he has good pen, he cannot score well if he doesn't study. Those people who say that something like the "cheapest pen" will do, why are you using "better pen"?:thumbsd:
Your example about the scholar is more on faulty equipment and not inferior equipment. Probably a $2 pen vs a $2,000 pen is more apt. Unless you're saying a $2,000 pen will not be faulty or run out of ink. Lol.

Let me ask you about weather seal. Having a DSLR that is better built and weather sealed so as to shoot in the rain peacefully without even thinking of protecting your camera from the rain during an event or having to hold a cover and have lesser chance to shoot? There are tons of examples for equipment as well if you want to compare. Nothing is a good example unless you set your standard on the IQ level of the photo taker and the gears he uses, different people has different standard.
Youtube has a video of a studio shoot using IPhone. While the camera is a handphone camera, what about the lighting equipment, backdrop, photoediting software etc etc?
People nowadays are more shallow and think surface level. I don't have a telephoto on a birding outing so I shoot nice abstract shots with great composure of the grass till I saw a dead bird on the grass and this is my birding shot...:bsmilie:
i think its both la... gotta have the skills and the equipment to produce a great photo rite?
if just have good gear and no photography skills = pointless
