Hello everyone, I just bought a Canon Ql17Giii from the US and though it came with an ever ready case (ERC), its pretty worn and the cover is coming of in black flakes.

I was wondering what everyone uses to house their rangefinders when they carry it around, is there a place in Singapore where we can buy usable cases? Crumpler cases don't really fit the bill here unfortunately, and the larger SLR types just make using a rangefinder pointless since its all about unobtrusiveness and ease of mobility.

Anyone? What gives?

Hi John
I use a domke shoulder/belt case 5X to carry my bessa R3a, leica CM and some film. It is very compact, versatile and also not very noticeable.

It looks nice and simple Alvin, but I'm lookin more for a case/pouch rather than a bag. But it certainly looks ideal for a rangefinder bag.

Wow..

the fogg bag looks really nice!

issit available in singapore ?

according to the website its reasonably expensive. haha but yes it looks nice.

I bought a cheapo compact videocam bag from the bargin bin at Challenger Funan for around $9 I use it to house my Bessa-R with mounted 35mm and some film. Its really small, like a ladies handbag, I then dump that into my sling bag and I'm good to go. :)

Last I remember I saw around 1-2 pieces left, its actually quite well padded for such a cheapo carryall, though I'm not sure if that's what you're looking out for.

You have to order it direct from Fogg. Everything is hand made by just 2 persons, Nigel Fogg and bee Berman. They can also customise their bags for you (eg. change dimensions if you want it a bit bigger or smaller or add or leave out a pocket).

Their products are not cheap but the quality is top-notch. I use two of their pouches. A lot of thought goes into the design. What I especially like is the shoulder strap design for their pouches. Unlike every other pouch Ive seen the strap wraps around the whole pouch (instead of being attached with clips to the sides). You get 2 big benefits this way. Firstly, the pouch is extra secure, and does not swing when you move. And because there are no clips or zippers, its completely silent. Also, their pouches now incorporate the "stud-and-loop" arrangement you see on Billingham bags. If you keep the velcro fastener taped up (which is how it is when it arrives new) you can take the camera out and put it back in without making a sound.

Interesting... How much did they cost you?

just get a lowepro back pouch. Can get from CP at under $20. Mount to belt for pouch or comes with strap.

The Flute (rangefinder size) was 97 Euros
The Piccolo (smaller, point-n-shoot-size) was 85 Euros

I am using a Billingham Hardly Small bag for my Leica M6, 50mm Summicron, 90mm Elmarit, Contax T3 plus many other accy.
Neen using it for more than 2 years already but still no sign of wear and tear!

For now, I'm wrapping it in a jacket and dumping into my Crumple Super Snipe. I'll have a go peeling the traditional ERC and then dyeing it with vinyl dye when I'm done with my exams.

Anyone here ever done a re-furbish of the original Canonet ERC covers before to great effect?
