there is a SCA3000C dedicated sync cord which can be paired up with the SCA module for full communication, but it's expensive. i believe CP has it if you want to try it out.

doesnt work with canon digital as far as i know...

:dunno: i'm just quoting from the Metz website, pairing up the 20D with the 60 CT-4, and that's what it says - SCA 3102 M3 and SCA 3000 C. never got to try it personally, but let me know if you have confirmation either way. :)

not sure about 3102 m3..but my 3102 m2 doesnt work with 10d. anyway since the sync cord method is actually quite easy to use i didnt bother to look into the m3 version.

Canon flash are great.. they are always consistent ... in producing underexposre results

:bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Seriously, I'm surprised only some people experienced this underexposure thingy but others seem ok about it. Maybe u guys usually shoot stuffs (eg studio, portraiture, fashion, etc) that hardly display this shortcoming? It's ok for fill-flash but a No-no for main flash.

I've tried all sorts of indoor scenes, all sorts of tones (high-key, dark surfaces, mid-tones) and yup, there is no doubt in the underexposure. Am wondering if it's the camera body...

mpenza, yah I've tried "averaging" on CF-14. Doesn't work.

For those skeptics, I dun mind meeting up and can show u the "phenomenon". Or maybe those who experience the same problems can share more of their views too.

As default, my 300D and 20D have underexpose "problem" by about 2/3 stop even metered with a GREY card. It seems like this prevents over expose which might "burn" some bright areas. I set my camera FEC to +2/3 and it works very well for me. The LCD CANNOT be trusted at all - exposure is just right when the LCD look over exposed. I use Histogram for ever now.

For my 300D, I use Metz 60CT-1, 45CL-4, 32Z-1 and Nikon SB-28 with good result, although my 60CT-1 give me a bit over exposure result..aging... so I am thinking to get 1 more flash for the 300D, maybe 550EX or 430EX or Metz 54MZ-4, as 60CT-1 is too heavy to carry out for event shots...

Although I have the old Canon old 420"EF" flash but never use since only left MANUAL mode....... and no automatic mode, even for the new EX series flash:( .

What do you use to connect your Metz Flash say to a 300D ?

I tried the SCA 3101 M3, SCA 312/2 AF and SCA 311 with Metz 32 Z2, ALL doesn't work properly in auto mode.

If I were to come back to Canon again, I would most likely do the unthinkable by some people. Use Nikon flash on a Canon body.

Just use the standard sync cord to connect the Metz 45/60CT-1 to 300D, you will need a sync cord adaptor since 300D is low end digital SLR.

Is there an adpater for shoe mount flash ?

Using Sync Cord does it lost the TTL/Red eye reduction capability ?

54 MZ-3 with SCA 3102 m2/3. you are correct in that it does not work properly when the camera is in auto mode - set your camera to Manual and your flash to Auto. takes some getting used to.

Metz 54 MZ-4 or Sigma DG500 super better for 350D??
And what is the price??

err...i mean i had been prove it to my self after you told me :):), bought and using it already , its very good!!

mine is the 3102 M only.
went to downgrade my firmware in J&J for the other M2 leg.
under auto mode,
if ambient dark, camera will set 1/60 f4,
if bright then its according to ambient and flash just fill.

hope that answer ur question.
no e-ttl2, but can have e-ttl.
10D, 300D, eos 3 and eos 30 works.

using Nikon SB28 as a backup to the 580EX. slightly less powerful (GN 50m) but works pretty well and give accurate exposure in auto modes (synchronising ISO and aperture on camera and flash). I did tape up all the pins except for the centre pin (dun think the flash will short the camera but just to play safe).

Not unthinkable. Nikon speedlights actually have very accurate auto modes and could be used on any camera with a standard hotshoe.
