OK good...here are more details. We meet at the ferry point by the airport and take the ferry to Tanjung Pinang. There we will be met by the people from Trikora Bay Kelong and after a 30 minutes car ride, we arrive at the kelong. Beautiful place to bring wives, children, girfriend, boyfriend. Fish rods recommended otherwise can loan from Kelong. Great fishing, rustic, great sunset/sunrise, BBQ by doorstep, catered Indonesian food. Drinks, cell phone connection to Singapore, cheap weekend. Need firm confirmation so that reservation can be made. Please leave name on list plus contact number.

how do u do metering with hassy, particularly the 503cw?

The TTL/OTF is only for flash control, if i dont use flash (landscape shots how to use flash?), the TTL light metering is useless, true?

Is it true that the spot metering is only provided by the prism viewfinder?

Most Hassy shooters take exposure readings using handheld meters as the metering prisms are quite basic. Best is to use a spotmeter, take your readings and decide, and set it on the camera, and shoot. Nothing more, nothing less. That's the joy of shooting Hassy's.

was quoted 4200$SG at the shop next to CP for 503cw with 80mm lens
ebay call for 1800~2500us$ with 80mm lens..cheaper... depending on condition CF or CFE lens.

I would also say the 503CW is the one to get, then you can add in the CW Winder for enhanced handheld shooting, and the PME 45 prism finder (the PME90 will not allow you to use a Polaroid back later). Then later on the 150mm CF or 180mm, superb with portraits.

Try to get superb condition ones to avoid problems, even if the cheaper ones are tempting but with doubts on the condition.

Without a viewfinder, no other way except to use a spot meter, which is fine.

The TTL is not useless without flash, it is in fact very useful. Shooting with film, you're bound to have several filters. With TTL, these filters are taken into account when exposure metering is done through the viewfinder. Also, different Hasselblad lenses can lead to as big as 1/2 stop reduction with close-ups, and TTL can take care of this.

The PME-45 prism viewfinder is the one I prefer (as I wears specs). Furthermore, it does not block the usage of a polaroid back. With this, TTL metering can be easily done. Looking through a PME-45 VF, a DSLR's VF in comparison is tiny. You can do spot, center, and incident.

On the Hasselblad Manual edition 4 or 5 by Ernst Wildi (which I think every new Hassy user should have, it beats Hassy's own user manuals), incident metering is still the pro's choice, but not always practical. Then TTL and viewfinder metering become very good alternatives. The book has an excellent chapter on exposure. It can be bought from Rice Ball.

If you'll notice from eBay, the CFI lenses still cost a lot, nobody's giving them away. CF is also not easily had for cheap.

IMHO, even the older 80mm C T* lens is a fantastic lens, inspite of its time in the market.
