Calibration of Tamrons lens ... cost?

Can i ask a question? So when we sent the lens for calibration are they doing calibration to the lens to suit that body i am using or if i am using it with other body.. will it be also calibrated...

Just wondering, is this front/back focusing issue really that big of a deal? Planning to get a tamron lens but I'm rather paranoid now after reading all these comments regarding auto focusing issues..

Actually front/back focusing issues can happen to any model from any manufacturer. So how big deal is this focusing problem:

This is front focusing...where you are supposed to auto focus at the 0mm line (the black bar).

Depending on how severe it is, sometimes it's not an issue in real world usage. If it's damm jialat/severe, in a possible usage of portrait, your focus will be either infront or behind the model which will cause the model's face to be blur. This may be not so obvious if you are using a small aperture f8>, but wide open at f1.x or 2.x, you should be able to see clearly cos of the dof.

I think you should probably come across this website during your reading...http://focustestchart.com/chart.html this helps to identify if your set is front of back focus. For easier method, use a ruler ;)

But for these issues, a calibration can be done on the lens and problem solved..if out of warranty, you have to pay abit lar.

maybe i can give u a gauge how much it gonna cost?
my 28-75mm/2.8 BIM costs $130 to replace some parts cos my 28mm cant focus n lock mechanism spoil.
my 70-200/2.8 cost $150 to replace some parts cos AF occasional hang.
both no warranty already. hope it helps.
tamron lens looks ex to service i think..

I oso don know now. felt my Nikon 55-200 VR lens is better quality in term of Auto focus, or maybe all nikon lens hv that quality. Now this back focusing problem really hold me on next purchase on Tamron 17-50 lens which is in my wish list....so now basically I will consider only 35mm 1.8 Nikon and 40mm 2.8 Micro Nikon......for the moment as my Tammy 18-270 2nd time sent in for re-calibration.

BTW all bros, May I know what is the best or standard focus test chart size to be use?? As i saw Tamron SG used A3 size. and they used it to test my lens n say it's focus ok. Been told Tamron JP oso used same A3 size chart... But mine is name card size. confused......0_o

A4 or A3 size should be ok. card size is too small.
