@Mare- Good thing you mentioned about the ND110. Now let me ask you, if would to chose only one, Hoya ND400 vs BW ND110, what would you chose? I have the ND400 already but using the B+W ND106 for almost a week in Coron made me realize that the built quality and IQ i get from the ND106 was excellent. Need a feedback on this bro.

hrm, i cannot say for sure, because i used the hoya nd400 maybe twice before i lost it, it was a stupid thing to shove it in my jacket pocket and go gallivanting around the uk coast, it must have dropped out. :/

might just have been coincidence though, i do not seem to get as much banding with the nd110 compared to nd400. do you get banding sometimes with the nd400? by banding i mean, a funny strip of darker exposure in the middle of the picture. of course things like vignetting, etc are to be expected.

Thanks for clarifying the "Banding" haha. Was starting to scratch my head already. No, i dont have any issues with my ND400. Only reason why i want to shift brands is the built quality. My Hoyas (filter itself) tend to move around while i clean them. And i read that the B+W filters are water proof.

not sure about the waterproofness,

but yes, i think the B+W is marginally better built..

after all, the price difference is not that much, at least for me when i'm in uk. i am thinking of getting a nd106 as well.. sometimes at night, 10 stops of cutting exposure is really too much.. it would not be so bad if my camera model could turn long exposure noise processing off, but no, every 2 minute exposure becomes a 4 minute wait, etc.

Kayangan lake is one of the cleanest lake i have ever seen in my life. The view before going up the steps really caught my attention. I stayed there for 20 mins to take several exposures, including an infrared shot taken with a R72. I just want to share the image in Black & White infrared.



Eternal Bliss

On one fine day while I was aboard the bangka. I looked over the horizon in front of me. I can see rain clouds pouring from a distance. In a matter of minutes, cool water droplets struck my face. I still cant believe I am in Coron.

This image doesn't have a strong foreground element, but still, i want to share this scene as i stand in front of the boat, gliding the still blue waters, and catching a reflection of a marvelous cloud formation in front of me.

I dont really know what happened to me in Coron but i just cant help myself taking images of kids playing around the area when i toured the town the first day i got there. They were all friendly and ready to pose for me...



Double Trouble

It was around lunch time when i reached Sea Dive resort from Busuanga. My companions decided to stay and rest in the room while i was too eager to walk around the town proper. My guide was more than willing to show me around.

We reached a certain part of the town going to the so called "Lambingan Bridge". It was made of wooden planks and is directly above the sea water in stilts. As i walk by, i could already see the people residing there. It was a very simple way of life i should say, but i quite envy them. Being away in a stressful environment such as Manila that is. As i walk towards the middle portion of the bridge though, i pulled out my cam to take a photo of a bench located at the side of the planks. There were too many obstructions so i just got a piece of it... I just want to share that particular scene in IR. Sorry but it was around 2pm so the lighting was to harsh to get a colored one... Only IR can do the trick.

I could say, this must be my favorite IR shot of the trip.

A famous delicacy here in the Philippines. We call it "Daing" or dried fish in english. I saw this patch while walking towards the docking area. Our daily routine was to pass by the market everyday to get there. Im posting two treatments, but its the same image.

In one occasion, i saw some smoke coming from the mountains. I asked our guide what it is and he told me its the "KAINGIN" burning. I got my binoculars and tried t see what it looked like. To my astonishment, it actually looked like sand dunes in the middle east! Told them to move a little bit closer so i could take a photo of it.

Wading in waist deep water while the sun is setting is quite a hard task for me. I never experienced this type of shoot before. And just thinking about the creatures lurking beneath me gives me goosebumps. But learning from Jay, you have to do your best to get the best possible angle to achieve a better shot. I have posted the Fiery Ending some pages earlier in the thread. That was the only foreground element i saw in CYC Beach that day because it was high tide due to rain.

On the image above, the water is already chest deep but i wanted to go further. There is a branch protruding in front of the big wood. And so i did... And here is what i got.

I consider this to be my favorite colored photograph i took in Coron. I certainly hope you guys will like it too.

I have a vertical shot as well. I was thinking, if I post that I wouldn't have expressed the feeling when I saw the formation. That image is a personal experience which I wanted to share as I've said in my post.

When I saw your last pic, I kicked myself for missing a chance to do a similar shot recently. There was a mini traditional Chinese puppet show outside my house that was performing for the Gods in the morning few days ago. I drove past & the only audience were a bunch of kids perching behind some red plastic chairs, my camera was just behind me but I had to rush for work. I thought it would be a nice opportunity but I didn't have the time to stop. I went back that afternoon & the show was gone.... a good shot is really that moment, miss it & it's gone.

Sometimes, the lack of experience in shooting landscapes will tend to make us panic whenever the decisive moment catches us unexpectedly. On our last day in an island, while the bangkeros were getting our boat ready, there it went... The sunset of our last day. Wild vivid colors, orange and blues paved way to cloud formations (Jay, what kind of clouds are these?). In panic mode, I just wade into chest deep waters again... taking a silhouette shot of a huge rock and the edge of the shore...

On one the trips going back to Coron town proper, I saw the sky with rainbow colored streaks. I was wondering how the hell did this happen? It looked like some sort of oil spill but it was above me...

Before landing in Busuanga, the plane from left to right... Some oldies even managed to shout a bit. I think it was just natural since the landing strip was close to mountain slopes which can be viewed from the plane window. There i saw a vast landscape. Unfortunately, brown soil over powered the colors of the green grass and trees which was there before man need the resources. I captured it in infrared and treated in black and white.
