Hi all,

Bought a Sanyo charger for my friend during the recent MO. He says that charger makes a buzzing sound while charging.

ok, it's a constant electric whirring sound, followed by a louder buzz every few seconds

Is this normal?

Doesn't sound normal...i used to have a faulty adaptor which also makes that kind of noise, but dunno if it's related to this.

I have the same buzzing sound problem. I thought this is normal as it is a switch mode power supply. It should be coming from the transformer. Can't really be sure though. Any other Sanyo charger owner care to verify?

mine no sound, very quite....

Those who have problems with thier Charger, Pls PM me.

Mine has also got the buzzing sound.
Is it faulty?
Got from MO.

mine also got the sound...
but tested 4 days in bali...no problemo..
1 set last 1 day of shooting/reviewing with juice to spare...

Those with chargers that do not make a buzzing sound, can you do this small test?

Switch off as many electrical appliances in your house and power up the charger (while charging batteries, of course). Can you hear any buzzing sound or is it still perfectly silent?

Thanks.

I can hear the buzzing sound since the first day I bring it home from the MO. Feel uneasy but after a while got use to it. It still charge the batteries. So got fault or not?
Btw, what does it mean when the LED keep blinking? Never seem to read it from the manual. Anyone knows???

blinking when u put in empty batts? u MUZ read de manual...:D

Hi,
I'm the friend of yusry with the problem.

I've tried the charger both at home and in school, and the sound is present for both places, so it's not an electrical outlet problem.

It consists of two parts:
1. A faint electronic whine.(appears once mains power is turned on)
2. Intermittent electrical "buzzing" noises every other second, lasting for ~2secs each. (appears only after 3+secs after mains power is on - a sign that it is charging perhaps?)

The charger functions normally otherwise - charges 2x batts in ~105mins, with a constant & steady red LED while charging.

Current reports by fellow forumers are contradictory - some report the same buzzing while others have silent chargers. As the noises are not loud, I request that fellow owners try to listen for it with all other noise sources(fans, PCs, TVs, etc) turned off.

With the new MO coming, I think it'd be in the bests interests of all, if we can confirm whether the noises are indications of a faulty charger.

Thanks.

I guess the buzzing is a sign of charging..
i guess only..

Regarding your enquiry, our response from Sanyo's representative is that a slight buzzing sound during the usage of the charger is normal. However, if the buzzing sound is excessively loud, please bring it back to us together with the receipt of purchase, and we will perform an exchange for you.

If you have questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact us. Have a nice day! :-)

Bought thru MO, don't remember having the receipt. :D
But anyway, the buzzing cound is kind of soft, so even the same charger judged by different people will have different option about it. Not to mention the surrounding noise level that u plug your charger.
So just giving a small suggestion here b4 u decide to call the MO guy:
If your charger still able to charge battaries and complete charging at the correct timing and temperature did goes too hot. I don't think you really need to charge the set.
OR
If you still find thye sound too much for u too feel safe, try borrow a set, maybe from anyone here that say the charger is slience, and try it yourself, just too prove that your ears are too POWERFUL. ;)
Cos chances are, you're likely to get a set that behave the same. Hope this might lighten the stress on person who is in-charge of the MO. All this exchanging is no jokes, very stressful.

But like what I said if by anyway you feel uneasy, go check it out. Cos you pay to get a product you trust, and not to worry that you might ended up in flames middle of the night!
