Hi,

I will be going to Japan and US for business trip and wonder where would provide the best price for Nikon DSLR and lenses?
I am looking at full frame DSLR like D750 or the D7100 DX format camera and the 16-85mm lens as well as the F2.8 lens (24-70mm).
Nikon is a Japanese brand I would expect Japan sell cheaper ...
Please advice, thanks.

In January Nikon Japan recalled all their D750s from their shelves. Not sure when it's back in stocks. The kit is ~ $400 cheaper at S$2.8K iirc.

U.S. Prices generally not fantastic. You'll have better luck in Japan.

Buying in Japan, how does the warranty claim?

If any an issue? Unlike in JB just cross over the bridge will do

I bought a new Nikkor AFS 50mm f1.4 in Tokyo last Dec, comes with international warranty. I have already registered (on-line) the warranty (12 months) with our local Nikon service center. Seems alright to me.

Nikkor lense come with 12 months worldwide warranty, while body most of the time is local. one condition is you need to have the proof of purchase thru' authorised dealer. =)

Buy what you need when you need it. :)

Saving $20 to go and fly overseas make zero sense to me.... I get great deals all the time here in SG cause I'm loyal at select stores. :) :)

From my own personal research, for RECENT launches, the prices in Singapore is as competitive as HK or Malaysia.

I bought my D600 and D5300 in US not because they were cheaper there but I could buy them without the kit lenses at that time and also I would be there for quite a period of time. Realized that the D5300 was about the same price here for the body alone. When the dust problem surfaced with the D600, I had to learn to clean the sensor when I came back until Nikon"s directive that even cameras bought overseas can have them cleaned here. My D300 failed to auto focus suddenly when it was only about 6 months old. Need to pay to service here. Then recently when I came back from China, the "up" button of the control wheel failed to work and I'll have to send it back . Wonder how much it will cost. This camera is still less than a year old. So, for camera bodies, not worth buying abroad.

AGREE ! and with recent cash back offers on certain brands not Mentioning Zeiss Mounts for Nikon and Canon its even cheaper than B&H Photo in New York USA ! ;)

And in some instances, like the new 400, sg is cheaper than hk by a great deal.
