i just came back from HK. Well i can say tat prices there are not attractive enough to buy..... i have been to Citicall, Wing shing etc
i find that prices are not any cheaper than SG. i rather buy from SG, to save the stress of walking store to store in HK or fear of been chopped in HK.
u will only save max S$100 from the price difference, BUT this does not take in the Int'l Warranty issue. If HK only gives u local warranty and the price is only S$100, might as well buy from SG.
lenses are also not any cheaper...... u might even get it cheaper in SG at street prices

Can you tell us which lenses you have made comparison with and found that they are more expensive in HK?
I was looking for Sony lenses:
CZ16-80 cost 4980hk$, which is abt S$980. international warranty.
also asked for 55-200mm Sony, it cost 1980hk$, abt $400.
asked abt Sony 50mm f1.8, cost abt 1090hk$, abt $200.
all got international warranty.
So HK prices not any cheaper than SG for these above lenses?
Another thing is i never know how these shops treat the lenses. I never know whether they will let many customers try the lenses on and test here and there....
some of us dun like to buy lenses or cameras that have been tested by so many ppl and also whether the shops allow returns from customers.

Isn't it the same here in Singapore? If you go to CP or John 3:16, since they allow people to test lenses before buying, do you think you are getting a brand new lenses from them every time?
Nikon D90 kit is selling around 7000 RMB in China last time I checked. This works out to around SGD 1500. Price in HK is similar to china.
And no. Camera bodies are all Local Warranty all over the world. If you buy in US, warranty is in US. If you buy in HK, warranty is in China +HK. Buy in malaysia, warranty is in malaysia.

For buying Canon lenses and accessories in HK, the saving range from accessories to some mid range lenses are between S$10-100++, eg: my Flash 580EX II, I got it at S$594 three mths ago... as for Canon camera body is still better to get it in Singapore.
Best $$ saving are those 3rd party lenses. If worry abt those warranty then get it in Singapore.

i was in Hong Kong two weeks ago, & i bought a Nikon Macro 105mm. The saving is about $200 compared to Spore's street price, & i get to pay in credit card. It comes with international warranty. At the same time, i surveyed the price of other lenses & tripods, found that they are abour 10% - 20% lower than Spore's. I tends to believe that buying lenses, tripods & accessories are more worth it. The saving could earn back the airticket ;-)
