I think the price on the EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM has dropped as it was replaced by the 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM, which i have.
My thoughts: If you are a general user and shoot anything and everything and want to add a jong lens to your bag then i would recommend the 70-300. Of the 4 lenses i have, it is the LEAST used, yet when i use it i am pleased with it. I personally don't want to spend more $$ in this focal range.
