Buying a filter

Hi guys, I'm currently thinking of getting a filter to protect my 18-200 f3.5-5.6 from the elements.

I have read in other threads that a clear filter would be better than getting a uv filter as DSLR sensors aren't prove to uv.

Please advice on where i can get a good filter that won't degrade the quality of my images greatly.

Thanks

Protection filter can use Nikon NC filter, UV filter are more for film camera use for cut down UV light affect the color of the photos.

Get the best you can afford. Any more pieces of optics between the lens and the sensor will only affect the image quality. A lower end one may impede light or cause ghosting in certain cases.

Or you can get Kenko Pro1D protector filters.
