Buying a Canon 6D from Hong Kong

I will be in HK at the end of the month and is keen to buy a canon EOS 6D from there since it is supposedly cheaper. May I ask those who have experience of buying EOS 6D recently (or other cameras) from HK to share some information/experience with me, to help me in the buying process?
Specifically, I would be interested to know the following:

1) where/which shop to buy?
2) approx price (including kit)- cash or can use card?
3)some posts said there are no int'l warranty, others yes- anyone has experience on that, specifically to Canon?

Thanks in advance

Hi, I am also considering buying a Canon 6D from HK... Just want to share what I roughly know

1) I can't tell which shop to buy from exactly, since there are actually many shops in HK selling cameras
2) as far as I know, CASH price is the best without incurring any additional charges, as for the price, I can't confirm, since I am unable to find out myself... :(
3) Canon does not have international warranty, also, the cheaper ones if u find, are usually "水货", also known as Parallel Imports or Illegally smuggled goods... Hence will not have warranty or some accessories not original..

Just my 2 cents... :)

haha, before someone whacks you on the head for not doing a search on CS for previous post on buying in HK, pls check out the HK buying guide first.

current prices always changing and also depends on HK-SGD exchange rate. best is to know whats SG price and then see if it is worth it. buy in SG have 15 months warranty by Canon

I have read that and an earlier post. However I was hoping that there's some clubsnappers who have bought such a camera to be able to share the specific info.
Thanks.

I think that HK camera shopping guide thread is as specific as it gets. Pretty much every store in that list will carry the 6D. Prices fluctuate all the time, and differ from shopper to shopper. Some buyers have a very good relationship with specific shops and get special discounts. You can even buy warranty or grey sets in HK with some significant price differences. So prices actually vary a lot. If you really need a guide on prices, take a look at www.price.com.hk for an idea.

And no, Canon never gave out international warranty for camera bodies. For lenses, a couple years back there used to give out international warranty, but no more. Now all canon (DSLR) stuff is all local warranty only, that includes lenses and accessories. Only for Point and Shoots you can get some sort of restricted international warranty (for limited countries only).

Thanks for the feedback.
That being tbe case, it will be more price-advantagous for us (non-HK residents) to get a grey set.

That is up to you. For myself, I still get local warranty sets in HK. So I have an option to take it back for fixes or recalls in HK should the need arises.

yes- a rather expensive option, I guess.
