if you wanna buy tamron 17-50mm , think twice and do more research... becos l think it is really sharp, like wat others mentioned, but l think it got very big quality issue... some focus issue l think...this is why l hesitated for really a while before decided to buy canon 17-55mm f2.8 , though nearly 2.5 x expensive but at least no issue for me...heartpain..for your info, some clubsnapper said if you can get a good copy one, then you be really reallly happy..but a lot is with below than average quality...think twice..checkk...

Well that's why when buying the lens need check. If don't mind troublesome, just bring a focus chart to test, or take photos of the box. Not all copies with back front focusing issue.

Of course EFS 17-55 pricey for obvious reason - good quality. But I would say it depends on the need of a user.

Someone said this before "I don't earn money from Photography so I opt for cheaper, but similar alternative"

I agree on the statement.

agree with Shen siung, dif ppl have dif buget, for me, i dun see a point to get such ex lens for my hobby. at least i make an afford to find the lens is sharp before i make payment.

i compare my photo with 17-40mm L lens. i very satisfy with the IQ of the photo! the color of the pic is really nice! :)
