good price! but do consider to get a more decent filter. i would reco skylight or UV filter :D

Skylight or UV filters are just the type of filter. You can get anything between the crap Sundawn Raydawn Emolux grade to the top of the class Heliopan.

For starters, a Hoya UV/skylight should suffice.

Check the price list for how much it costs to get a new piece of the lens, and a new piece of the filter (if it's a really cheapo filter, then it's not much of a bonus), take the condition of the second hand lens into consideration and judge whether it is a good price or not

Just to clarify - this is BRAND NEW lens from a shop.

i just got this lens last night, so far the lens is give better IQ then kit lens at F4. this lens i like the color it produces! sweet contrast!

i yet to do a outfield test. so far this lens IQ is comparable with 17-40mm L lens. power!

i was thinking should i get 28-75mm Tamron lens, at 28mm, i could do wide landscape photo... but that is another damn good lens!

well, i just wanna tell him to make sure the filter is decent one :)

I had both the kits lenses - the 18-55mm and 55-250mm. My advise is to buy the body only and buy a good lens for example EF lens 70-300mm IS USM (around $1,100) . Shooting experience becomes a much more pleasurable experience. The kit lenses together have cost around $600+. Just bite the bullet and bypass them to go straight for a quality lens or lenses, an L lens if you can afford it.

I dun want to see u lose unnecessary money.

Never ask about the warranty. Have lived with the original kit lens 18-55 f3.5-5.6 since 2004, and used the Sigma 18-200 f3.5-6.3. Then 3 weeks ago I bought the Canon 50mm f1.8 and went WOW!

Now itchy - started looking for a lens which can produce sharp images, bright and nice color.

Only using 70-300 would be too long, especially on a crop body.

Now start saving up to buy 50D or 60D (whenever it comes out) to replace my 300D.

great! that is still a crop body so it ok to get this lens else i won't reco you get at least a tamron 28-75mm f2.8 :)

Great - was offered $620 for the Tamron 17-50mm PLUS a filter. Good price?

A new 17-50 usually around $620 - 640. A Tokina UV filter usually $10. Hoya usually $30+.
If the lens is less then 6 month old, and the filter is Hoya or B+W, then the ideal price could be $600 - 610, for me.

errr if i not wrong filter price depend on the size, 67mm filter is not going to as cheap as 58mm...

if want to get the $10 tokina, please dun... its not multi coat, just plain glass... very bad ghosting effects! i bought this filter and in the end i buy another Hoya multi coat filter to replace. :(
