If you mean B&H New York the address is www.bhphotovideo.com. I went to USA before Singapore and I am so glad I bought all my equipment from them. They have a great reputation and the service was excellent. I did research other places but for the few dollars difference I decided to be hassle free. They have a second hand department with refurbished Canon lenses which are "white boxed". Shipping it to anther State meant I also paid no tax. It arrived promptly. They also have a good returns service. I am not sure on guarantees but I decided to risk the secondhand lenses. Never again will I buy in Singapore. With B&H you get what you paid for. They have online advice which is not directed to selling you what they want. I also trie Adorama which is a good Company.

Thank you; and don't forget that you are always welcome to email me directly for after-sales support or advice if there is ever a problem with an order.

BTW, HenryP from B&H is also here.

And to think when our local stores received complaints in the forum, they don't even dare to come here to explain and only turned to a certain ClubSNAP member to relay their side of the story... :dunno:

I've bought from Adorama via Amazon before. It's good and fast, shipped via Borderlinx to Singapore because Amazon do not allow electronic items to ship outside U.S.

Only complain is they use a slightly too big box to ship 430EX II and an Omnibouce. LOL.

If you know how much abuse your package gone through when getting from point A to point B, you will be glad they over pack it just in case...

Ditto last week :D
HenryP from B&H was a great help with extra protections.

I saved $2.2K on my 200f2 when bought from B&H. hand carry in the lens is the best...cos no GST. Is not worth paying $500plus for GST say you buy a $7K plus lens. So do check if people are going to USA and ship the lens to where they are going outside of the state where B&H is. Cos if you buy the lens at the B&H shop, you will be subjected to tax of that state as well. Shipping to other state in USA is free and no tax.

Bought from B&H and Adorama. Both are great. Recently bought my 70-200 f/4L from Adorama for US$560 after factoring in cashback offers only available to US residents.

Other good sites include Newegg, J&R, and Amazon.

Its not overpack trust me, a lot of empty spaces inside that is not filled with plastic bubble bag. Its just a piece of plastic bag with air, not bubble wrap.

So how can lot of empty spaces be more protective than a box snugly fitted with bubble bag?

Ok, in that case it's not good. Maybe they ran out of those plastic peanuts?

Dunno mine have not one single piece of peanuts, just a single bubble :(

But nvm, luckily Borderlinx is very gentle, not even one dent on the Flash box. he he he.

hearing so much positive comments, i decided to try it out..
i just ordered 70-200f4L from B&H, hope everything goes well...

would like to go for 70-200f2.8IS, but out of reach... hee... btw, its my second L lens... i'm poison!

You can buy things on Newegg? I thought they stopped accepting non US credit cards? Are you using paypal or some other means to purchase?

share my recent first time experience with B&H

11-Jan: Made my purchase online
12-Jan: "processing"
13-Jan: "processing", I emailed to enquire
14-Jan: B&H responded saying that had charged to my CC, but need me to scan the front and back of my CC for verification
14-Jan: I emailed back to ask them to cancel my order. How could they have charged to my CC and withhold my purchase while waiting for verification. What practice is that? I had made many purchases from the big boys in US before, no such experience using the same CC.

first and last time with B&H, something for you guys to reflect on, henryp

This is a known practice with B&H for Singapore credit card users. Not sure if this is for selected overseas countries or across the board for ALL overseas countries. Perhaps HenryP can help clarify?

How about Adorama? Any one know if they also require a scanned copy of credit card? Helen, any comments?

but this practice "piss" me off... they have no rights to request for scanned copies of my CC, even though they claimed that they will destroy after verification..

I believe they instituted this practice after being conned one too many times by people using stolen credit card information. Why non-US credit cards only? Probably because con artists outside US are harder to pursue or are beyond the reach of US law.

Even for US credit card holders, they (and all other US web sites I deal with) always verify my credit card billing address against the shipping address. They are very unwilling or even refuse to transact a deal that involves shipping to an address other than the credit card billing address.
