Canon ... Can't help ... 1 things I notice. Very similar incidence for amongst Canon.

2 Guys (40D + 70~200L, 40D + 70~300L) Shoot the same subject. 70~200 picture come out.. Wah! So Vibrant... So Blue..!!! 70~300L Come out... Like coffee had just spilled over the picture... Yuks!

200 say 'Must buy f/2.8 else no vibrant colour'... 300 say.. "200, your colour so fake! Not Natural.'

70~300 come ask me for help with his colours ... I try and try and try... Give Up! ... I use Nikon.. can't help. :(

I say Winson.. find a Canon user to shoot with you. Better able to handle the technical aspect. :sweat:

However.. I learnt 1 thing today... For Nikon to get that disgusting Vibrant Canon Blue.. Must use Vivid+ Setting + Tokina Lens + CPL or GND ... The number of Kachang needed to create that kind of colour in the camera... Haiz!

Yeah 70-200L is a good lens.
The later version has even slightly better lens quality then earlier version which i saw from some forum.
Got 70-300L meh? Its not a L lens. Poor quality and colors for that range. Either get a 55-250mm for 1.6x crop or 70-200mm for 1.6x or FF.

Hey andrew, any idea in dim light, what shutter speed must i use to capture sports action? No flash allowed.
i set to ISO 1600 with 1/200 still not enough?
i guess i saw the answer from magazine. Should be ard 1/1000 or 1/2000.

You ask question and give answer yourself? :confused:???

1/1000~1/2000... use to freeze horse, Ferrari mainly... under good light condition. Singapore F1 and all those night soccer matches are super bright. So... that is not a low light.

Depends on what you hope to achieve with the amount of Available light. That includes your flash.

Most of my sports pic I use my $100 70~300 f/4~5.6 plastic lens and my $280 10 Year old 28~105mm f/3.5~4.5 lens (I wish Nikon would make a 24~105 f/4... :cry:).. SO... I don't have fantastic sports pic. I think my sports pic will make it to Town News Letter.. Not the press. HAHAHA! Saving to buy the 80~400 VR!!!

I think all done between 1/5 ~ 1/320 Sec 1/640 more than enough to freeze soccer player. If you want to pan people and have their face sharp while their legs and arms are still in motion.. you need to do some calculation in your head...

Your question I cannot answer... because..

1. I don't know what you hope to achieve.
2. You use canon and the last time I check with your 5DMK II... Exposure seems way below Nikon and we over compensate up to 1 stop....

Maybe some reference would help...My style - to show motion and/or emotion in sports. :-}

I play around with shutter speed and flash a lot. Love to do panning.

Anyway.. sports photography is a BIG Thing! Big and Long glass would help. VR/ IS/ OS/ VC are just as important!

Cheers!

Thats 1 shot 1 kill competition.
Compulsory must shoot tourist?

Btw whose going other than you?
Haha very challenging competition but 1 shot 1 kill dunno muz shoot how many to get it.

Yeah true..
Sniper = camp and prepare to shoot?
Machine Gun = Aim and do burst shot?

Aiyo you saw my multiply. the photo that i commented.
In dim light and to capture a jump, i wanna full body to be sharp (No flash allowed)
Its already at 1/200 with ISO 800. I guess if i really wanna freeze then i gotta hit 3200 or 6400 ISO with higher shutter speed.
Looks like alot of people will fail for indoor shoot since the light were so dim and the dancers movement were fast.

Anyway good thing is i learn something again :)

There is something call f/2.8 + IS/ VR + ISO 800 + 1/80 and Mono pod... Sure can get a picture daytime indoor. The thing about shooting dance is to anticipate and observe for the moment.

That is why I say.. Get a IS/ VR/ OS lens... unless old school people like me... Shoot with 17~35mm, 1/30s to prevent cam shake and bright enough background. Else the 50mm, 85mm f/1.8 is good enough. Macro lens also can. :-} That is why I NEVER Buy 24~70mm. Prefer Wide, fast standard/ telephoto Primes for indoors. I can keep to ISO 400. Just need the correct lens/ equipment for the correct job. Not Higher ISO... :-}

tot ur 5D no prob with high iso :dunno:

Yeah no money to buy lens now. Most FF canon zoom lens at low focal length doesn't come with IS.
24-70mm is a good lens with F/2.8 although no IS also.
Btw i shot using F3.2 ISO 800 with 1/250 shutter speed, still blur... hai.. sad thing. Indoor dim light w/o flash really need big aperture with high shutter speed. And i only saw 1 or 2 guys using big aperture lens.
Anyway when the results out, i won't be surprised to see most shots are outdoor, prob none indoor shot despite they got so many indoor dance. i will be very curious and surprise if there is someone who can capture good indoor shots under dim light without flash.

Cheerful88: Yeah no problem for ISO 6400 provided you set to high ISO Noise Reduction ON and don't crop.
It has huge MP to crop thats why most of the noise doesnt show at 1600. As usual lar, too high ISO = details and contrast lost although the grainy will be reduced.

Hi Hi! Finally!!! Another Nikon!!!

Maybe should organise a Bukit Panjang People Shoot out!

Haha!

I leave this to SingaConnect. :-}

so fast shoot arrow to me liao

dun think gg tonight...i think i'll go during weekdays...wanna join me??

50mm f/1.8... cheap and good. $170+/- ??? Used one also ok?

FF - 16~35mm need 1/30s... 24~70mm need 1/60s.... still need IS??? I told my friend before... either smoker, weak arms or have arm injury/ medical background... else.. any 'dick' can hand hold stable at this speed.

I know a fellow shooter. smokes. Can't even get sharp picture with 18mm at 1/80s....

Do more push ups. Muhahhaa! :-}
