Hi Dearchivism,

Not sure if my comments have been posted before, if you ever want to release a Coffee table book from these pics, please PM me, i will wana buy a copy from you and get your autography :-)
I think what separates you apart from the rest is that you actually state down the location where you take the pics and take the effort to explain the photo settings / reasons why you take certain pics.

I have so many favourite pics, but so far i think nobody has pointed this one " # 283 One Scene at Singapore Zoo (Singapore Zoo, 2010), the lion pic...
there is certain look about the lion's expression that i cant put my finger to ..

Can i check, if some of your pics are taken at low level / ie you place your camera on the floor / very near to the ground and you shoot up? by doing that, you really give a very diff prospective to the usual manner we view our enviornment.

How much time / effort do you take on these pics ? ie do you drive around singapore and take them when you ride pass them ?

thanks again for motivating me to be a better photographer

Best Regards

To Ricardo Ong :
Thank you so much for the message and also your appreciation, i glad that you like the photos and become more glad to know that you are now having more motivation to be a better photographer. Right now i still concern on developing my experience in learning + exploring the photography, trying this + tial and error. Hopefully one day I can be more ready to release the series of the photos as one simple book, etc. You are right, for some photos, I took it from low angle (shooting up from lying or sitting position) because for some angle and some composition it would look more unique and more dramatic (which will make perspective will look interesting and also can cover the sky inside the frame as apart of its background). Usually I take public transportation (MRT, Bus) to reach the locations, sometimes I also need to walk quite far also, and I take this condition as a challenge and as part of my experience in doing photography. For some case, I need to come to the same location for several times to get the nicer photos (consider to the weather not everyday is bright with clear blue sky). Usually I take the photos at early morning and late afternoon (for weekend and public holidays), so I still have enough time to do other activities / tasks. It will become like a sport + refreshing moment for me after working days. I try to enjoy the shooting time so it feels more fun and more relaxing, not becomes something so serious, stressful and painful. What usually I do is try to find the interesting part(s) of each spot / location and i make it as part of my little exploration and trial error practice, just flowing and follow what I feel at that time (sometime feeling also helping me to get the angle and composition of photos). Give more space and freedom for our imagination…our feeling and our heart / sense …..when we take photos so the result will come out / become more creative , more unique and more original ;p

Hi nice pic!
# 492 Color of The Morning 87 (Changi Village, Singapore, 2011)

just a few questions,
1) is that a plane that i see on the right hand side?
2) i think there is a dust on your camera / lens ? - diagionally below the plane...i see a dot ... or is it a bird / something else?
3) i really dig (like) this colour ... did you take it during the late aftern / early evening or morning ? or u photoshop it ?
4) ND filters used for this pic ?

hi Dearchivism
It took me quite sometime to complete all yr pictures but its totally worth it.:)

I truely agree with what Richardo Ong said abt his opinion.
Along the way there are so many times ppl asking this particular question: "what type of filter you normally use?". As usual, you will take the trouble to describe the details or specs of ND 4 filters again & again as if explaining it for the 1st time.

Having travelled around so many places during early morning hrs without yr own transport, the passion & determination which you showed is really what I have to learn from you, apart from photography itself.

Glad to have someone in CS like you and many other aspiring photographers to motivate all those who are willing to do well but lost some directions along the way......help us pls !!!

Cheers & Pls spread yr passion to all the ppl here in CS :angel:

To Ricardo Ong,
Thank you so much for dropping by, i am glad that you like the photo.
For your questions, here are the answers :
1) is that a plane that i see on the right hand side?
=> Yes, that is a plane from a distance
2) i think there is a dust on your camera / lens ? - diagionally below the plane...i see a dot ... or is it a bird / something else?
=>Probably that dot is a bird because when I checked the other photos, that dot was not exist
3) i really dig (like) this colour ... did you take it during the late aftern / early evening or morning ? or u photoshop it ?
=> The main color is happened at the original photos (which I use ND Gradiation / half color 4, which if the sky is a "bit cloudy / there is a thin cloud cover the morning sky", usually the color become abit light brown-grey, and I also did pp (editing) using photoshop CS 2 to adjust the color and brightness abit so I can get the final tuning that I want
4) ND filters used for this pic ?
=> Yes…I used ND Gradual / Gradient / half color 4 for this photo.

To NikonNoob,
Thank you so much for your appreciation, it really encourages me.
Yes, about the filter, I need to explain it clearly because ND filer has 2 type normal ND Filter (which has the same color / darkness for all part of the surface) and ND gradual / gradient / half color (which has gradation from darker part to more transparent part). I use ND gradual/ gradient/ half color 4. Yes, I agree with you, to encourage each other among the CS people for keep on shooting….trying…exploring….in learning + doing photography will be useful and make this forum become better and more colorful ;p
