Just out of curiosity, how many tokina do you have? And do you have the 300mm f/2.8?

i ve used 2 diff copies of the tokina 300 2.8 AT-X pro before, one was new old stock and i must say its a fantastic lens. i tends to flare a little when shooting into the sun, but otherwise i couldnt ask more from it. i could dig up some samples if you want. in general the AT-X pro lenses form the '90s were really good, though they tend to flare abit easier than the nikon counterparts.
i've also used(don't currently have) the 20-35 2.8, 24-40 2.8, 28-70 2.6, 28-80 2.8, 35-70/2.8, 80-200/4, 90/2.5 macro, 100 2.8 macro, 100-300 f4 AIS. last few i want to try are the 28-85 f4, 200 2.8, and 100-300 f4 AF.

Thanks. That would be great. I very recently discovered how nice tokina lenses feel to use. Keeping an eye out for the 300mm f2.8. Any idea where I can find one? :-)

these dun look like wide angle fotos?

Sure they do.. its a bit zoomed in because of the 1.7x converter (see photo 1), but otherwise the 300 AF-S f/2.8 VRG is a great budget wide angle lens (I am also confused!!!! ha ha!!!) and fits great in your gear bag for wedding shoots!

apologies >< but fmeeran requested 300mm 2.8 samples. should i get rid of them?

my apologies for the majority in black and white, thats just my style. anyway you ll see i ve no issue shooting the lens wide open and do so quite abit. it does have abit of field curvature in the corners though, and you ll need to take note of that to get the most out of it (can see it showing in the last image, on the bottom left where i forgot to compensate for it)

have always been curious about the Tokina 17 f3.5. how is the damage like?

So far in the B&S or eBay and not really can get the Tokina wide angle lens for Nikon mount.

For my experience In last fews months have to made a offered in B&S forums but no one who bother me the Tokina 17mm F3.5 Non-ATX prime, also the Tamron 17-35mm F2.8-4D & Tokina 20-35 F2.8 Pro.

Hope you can get a mint copy :)

My final copy is bought from eBay, so far so good.

None! Even the 17-35 belonged to a friend of mine. I just helped him do the tests on his setup actually. I used to use the excellent 11-16 when I was still on crop, but has since sold it. I have always have good impression on Tokina lenses. But I have to say the 17-35/4's performance kind of disappointed me a little. But it may be because i was excited and expecting too much when the lens was first announced. The 16-28/2.8 is a much better performer, but you lose the option to use filters.

If TS is interested, for UWA, I am using 16-35VR and Samyang 14/2.8.

Just saw your detailed reviews on tokina 17-35 F4 and found up this lens has been stop down at F8 still leave the CA on the edge.

No more interested to getting this lens anymore :(

Most UWA lenses have some CA on the edge. This one is actually not that bad.

The best lenses that control CA very very well are the Samyang 14/2.8, Nikon 14-24/2.8 and the Nikon 16-35VR.

And don't forget, most Nikon current cameras will remove fringing. This picture was shot in RAW and converted, so it did not go through Nikon's CA removal program.

got a 2nd hand full boxed set from london(happened to see it in the window) for £270 i believe.. it's abit more than i was willing to pay, but having tried it out on the spot and side by side with the 17-35 2.8 it was a clear winner. tends to go btwn 400-420 USD on ebay.

hi, it seems you got the 20-35 f/3.5-4.5, not to rain on your parade, but its not in the same league as the tokina 20-35 2.8(which matches the nikkor 17-35 in most respects except flare)

How bout the AF 20-35mm F2.8D any comments?
