I am using a Bronica SQAi myself, but then I would have to say you might be better off with a Mamiya 645 Pro TL instead. The price are similar, but then there are more support for Mamiya 645 Pro TL and there are more lenses for Mamiya, there are even cheap russian lenses for Mamiya 645 Pro TL for you to use if you do not want to spend too much money buying Bronica orginal lenses.

Basically, I would not buy it in Singapore. It is going for <1K in Ebay, but it is selling for like 1.6 - 2k in Singapore.

Check out with ebay.

You have to note that Bronica is not longer supported by Tamron. Meaning when it goes, it goes.

singscott selling full BRONICA ETRSi set
body, prism, 4 backs, polaroid backs, maybe 3 lenses, etc..... all for only $3,000 in yahoo auction. you can pm singscott . he is CS member.

I used a ETRSii (I think) before, with rapid winder, 3 different lenses and different backs (135/120).

Fantastic lenses, and an equally good, solid body, but you have to be aware that since the political/business side of Bronica has burst, down the road, finding parts and service may be increasingly difficult, and in time, impossible. If the same were to happen to Mamiya, finding parts/service would not be so difficult as there are a much higher volume of mamyia gear floating around at any given time.

It's a pity, really, as I feel that the Zenzanon lenses were on par with Hassie's Zeiss, and in some tests, a wee bit superior (for the 6x6 lenses).

Also, since the economic situation affecting Bronica, most unfortunately, the value of Bronica equipment has generally fallen quite sharply as opposed to say, Mamiya.

As much I love Bronica, I would offer the (at the moment) healthier adivise of plunking your cash for a Mamiya.

BTW, I have also owned and used Mamiya's 645 equipment. Only thing I never liked about it were the focal plane shutters. Nothing else. Thousands of professionals around the world make their living (and riches) with Mamiyas.

I still feel sad for the Zenzanons (and manual Zuikos though). Some of them were real classics that would give Zeiss a run for their money, and beat them, ever so slightly.

I think Mamiya 645 does come with Leaf Shutters Lenses, thus there is nothing not to like Mamiya. But then I am Using a SQAi ;D .....

You mentioned you were using a ETRSi, was that the one Orion were selling?

Mamiya only have one leaf shuttler lens. It a 75mm lens. The rest are focal plane shuttler. So x-sycro is only 1/125. Where leaf shuttler sycro at all speed

Mamiya Pro TL has quite a few leaf shutter lens as far as I know they have at least :

55mm f/2.8 N/L
70mm f/2.8 LS
80mm f/2.8 N/L LS
150mm f/3.8 N/L

covering from Wide Angle to short telephoto ...... above that, you will be better off with a Tripod.

The advantage with Mamiya 645 over ETRSi 645 is they have a choice of focal plane lens and a leaf shutter lens.

JFI, the Leaf shutter lens can only synco up to 1/500s even though the body can go up to 1/1000s with Focal Plane Shutter lens as the shutter then will be in the Lens which is only up to 1/500s.

To add in some sweetener, you can even buy Russian Made Cheap lenses which Optical quality are similar to mount onto Mamiya, due to the Focal Plane Shutter capability.

(ok, I did research before I bought a Bronica SQAi)

Ops seem like my informations a lot back dated :embrass:

Ya you are right as I say my information were wrong, I got it mix up. Mamiya 645 AFD is 1/125 and the lens should be 70mm instead of 75mm. Happy? ;p

Lets take out the banal talk and the inaccurate information let the thread creator make his decisions :) .... ok?

Wat say you?

I already say my information was inaccurate three post ago  If I made a mistake I am ready to admit and move on. Not like some people in CS. Hey I didn't say mamiya are no good, I am a mamiya owner as well. I just happen to an excellent Bronica ETRSi to sell and at a good price as well ;)

I am not sure if you've decided yet, but if I had the $$ I would definitely be going for Singscott's stuff; it’s a great looking, complete set. But, since I didn't have the funds, I had to look elsewhere.

CP is selling a Mamiya 645 Pro TL set right now for $1.550 (2.8 lens) or $1655 (1.9 lens). It's a completely manual set, unless you upgrade to the AE prism $2.1K. Either way, way it looks like a good way to go for a newbie like myself.

Just my .02
