Bring out your moves Lisa!

Nice work bro. Been wanting to do dance shoots but no time to set it up.

jus a thought...
how abt usin a slower shutter speed and 2nd curtain flash, so that u can capture some movement and then flash to freeze the subject?...

Newbie question. Does studio lights hook up to rear sync?

Read that most pros use leaf shutter cams for faster sync speed

Thanks bro. You where got newbie. haha
It depends on the triggers rather than the strobe. I am not sure if a normal radio/IR trigger will work with camera setting to rear curtain sync. I did before with Pocket Wizard Multisync (courtesy of Kel77 aka Raymond Lau). That PW is powerful. Not only can set rear curtain sync, can even set the time to trigger in between. i.e. you can set shutter speed for 2sec, and trigger to fire the strobe at 1.5sec. :)

Yup, pros use leaf shutter cams. Theres a budget way, use compact cams haha. I tried with my lx5, 1/800 also can sync hehe.

Wow! Didn't know that compacts have high sync too? See, I'm newbie & didn't know that PW has so much functions! Yummy....

Hey if you setting up a re-shoot, please drop me a line ya?

OK, lets see when she's free again.
btw, if you are talking abt freezing motion in studio shoot, I think the flash duration of the strobe is more important than
shutter speed. So you can keep the shutter speed as per usual, or use long shutter, as long as the strobe got good specs on flash duration.

Flash duration? How long can they go? Would suppose 1/250 might be more than enough to freeze but haven't done it, would also like to do some slow shutter & combine multi shots of movements. Need to experiment & I've bought some dance photography books but don't know where they're stacked

Btw, did u set it up on tripod & trigger off?

Nice. Thanks for sharing. :D

Flash duration typically in the range of 1/few thousands. Which is alot faster than sync speed or shutter speed. In studio environment, thats what help you to freeze motion.
Its different from outdoor environments such as shooting sports events, when you depend on higher shutter speed to freeze motion. :)

Another look.
