What is these photos to do with "今天没人嫁给我"???? *catch no balls mode*

Because, if you look at these pictures, the title is poetic justice.

These are by no means the worst ever, but then, for bridal images, one would expect that all tricks in the bag to make the subject looks gorgeous will be pulled. Unfortunately, most of the pictures, the subjects were not presented in the most appealing and complementary manner.

Hi, here are my noob c&c,

#2 too young to be bride.. expression funny.. lol.

#11, i like her expression, but background too much white space.

bro, 1st comment is very subjective & personal. FYI i have friends who got married as early as 17 yrs old to 21yrs old. as long as above legal age n parent consentsus, who cares.

Unable to see the neck in #7, so feel kind of strange.

Hi Adrain,

You are really fast. Nice pictures from you.

I'm just in the process of selecting the pictures only. Will post some later.

So what is your recommentation? We would like to learn from it.

great series, thanks for sharing! :)

Are you the philipino guy?
bro, i'm not... :)

Hope you enjoyed yourself. Some of the shots seem OOF?
yeah think it is, need more work on this, thanks for noticing that...

Nice series, but the hair of the models are just way too messy.
noted bro...

nice compo and good capture.... :)

but, points to note:

- good to fill flash (e.g. #1 & #3)
- dun PP too much (e.g. #10)
- note your focus, #6 is quite obvious is OOF, not soft

thanks for sharing :)
hey alan, thanks for noting those, still trying to tweak my pp workflow... Should have been more careful...

Bro, if you don't mind me saying. Some of your shots need some fill lights, while those that have lights have got them too strong on the models. Point for thoughts when you shoot the next time round. Also, tone down on your PP on the model's face and skin. If they're already good, then you may not want to waste your time trying to make them better.

You've scored well in the composition and communication with models though. Some great expressions there too.
hi virgo, thanks ur comments and encouragement, in fact i've been wanting to purchase a reflector for fill lights or remote trigger flash, yeah the waxy face pp will really need to go that i agree...

heya DP bro, thanks for dropping by, your c&c are milder than i thought it will be looking at your past comments on other threads... :D Your portfolio's great by the way, hope you can share some pointers...

In fact, i did some homework by looking at other photog's wedding portfolio before attending the shoot so i can try out different poses... Those shots are the ones i can only muster at the moment unfortunately...

As for the thread title, it's not to discredit the models actually. Just a tongue in cheek title. The models are really great to work with, so hopefully no one misunderstood it. Glad it got your attention though, haha...

i told the model that if she don't smile for me next i will bring a feather duster to tickle her and she got scared and hence that expression... :)
feel so too for #11, the white space kinda distracting, thanks for noting that...

Unable to see the neck in #7, so feel kind of strange.
thanks bro, you just taught me something that i didn't noticed initially, because she's wearing a high neck dress, i should have shot from a lower angle to show the neck tyty...

Thanks daniel, hope to see ya pics, fun shooting with you that day!

Thanks for sharing !
Thank you grazer... :)

i love #5 though the skin tone on her left arm is a little too dark, but i like the composition.

cheers,

I really don't care much about the title one way or another, it jsut gave me a podium to slam.

Now, I am only commenting on 2 pictures. One, all I can see is teeth. They are overly big, not particularly white, and seems there are gaps in between all the teeth. Tell me that is looks nice?

The other, model looks fat. Fats are fat, face looks pudgy, and I am sure she is not in real life, but that is what the picture shows. A picture is worth a thousand words.

What to do?

Its ok for the bride to be fat. In fact, imperfection is closer to reality. :)

In a real wedding, you will also encounter fat brides. Personally I had a real AD Wedding experience with a plump bride. After my shoot with the plump bride, she commented that she like my AD wedding photos more than the controlled studio shots. This is because of the "Candid" nature of my shots. It comes from my event photography skills more than classy wedding potraitures which im quite clueless

All brides are beautiful :)

look at picture 7 and tell me that is fine!

There probably isnt time to speak to the models or get to know them better prior to shooting... which is really apparent in this set of images... while i actually quite like the images overall.. it really doesnt match up to the inexperience of the models...(not like anyone had a chance to speak to them about this i guess)

The fact that this is organised probably meant the models will have to work on their expectations and TRY to produce results.. which is always a difficult thing..

That said, i'm sure the ladies gave it their best :) and certainly deserves commendations... however, there's still knowledge to be had and experiences to be gained :)

Keep up nice images bro... :) and certainly credits to your models as well...

:thumbsup:Ejun

I'm sorry for being such a disappointment. I did try really hard. I will work harder.

It has nothing to do with working harder. You were fine.

The photographer's job is to capture the moment. It all depends on what and which moment that is to be captured.

Pic 7 should have been trashed from the get go.

Btw, just remember, what you feel might be a funny or cute face, may or may not be on the other side of the camera. Practice in front of a mirror. And funny faces in general, are not flattering.

Back to the photography, someone asked what is my work flow. The sad thing is, everyone wants a formula for success. There just isn't one. If one is insisted on, it's if the picture is bad, delete it. That is my workflow.

Regard another comment that the models must have tried their best and deserved commendation, well, that is all good and great, but at the end of the day, it is the image that counts. Everyone can tried their best, but if the best is not enough, it is not enough, the image will still fail to deliver.

ok as you wish. Picture 7 is fine :bsmilie:

I feel that whether or not a picture is "Fine" is determined from which angle you judge. Therefore from your "Glamour" pg angle, it may fail and I understand your point of view. From my angle of casual shooter though, I wouldnt need a podium to slam people. I prefer to create a platform instead for everyone to stand up on and maximize my fun/friendship off each shoot. Pictures are thus secondary. People comes first

Therefore dun impose your values on me! :)

Also if i am the model, I would appreciate both flattering and ugly pictures of myself. Without the latter, how do i know where to improve? Furthermore such "imperfect' pictures can in fact be used as her personal life documentary which should be mult-faceted. I wouldn't call it "Fat". I call it a "less-flattering-but-nonetheless-still-me" picture. Afterall Portraiture Photography is not all about Glamour Photography isn't it? This is a Portraiture forum, not a glamour pg or wedding forum

In fact for pic #7 i look more at the pose than the face/neck coz she was the only apprentice model that day which gamely tried out at posing. It is thus commendable for her effort.

Btw i'm not into Glamour pg. I am into "God" photography. My main subjects are the different chinese and indian gods tranced up. No matter what I take, ppl usually dun say my pictures are ugly :bsmilie: It is another type of portraiture pg that calls for a deep respect of our subjects and the sacrifice the pg made to take them

At the end of the day, if you like the picture, so be it.

However, that picture is one of the worst sample for it's genre. Just bring that picture to bridal shops, bridal fairs, or on the street and ask anyone, what do they think.

Yes, you can be a casual snapper and presses the shutter madly recording candid pictures, that is fine. But for a bride, that is not a candid she will want to see.

No, I dare not impose my standards on you, afterall, this is a free society.

Go ahead, shoot as you wish.
