Breakdown on North-South MRT Line

I don't think shareholders driving continental cars and living in private properties would be bothered about that. :bsmilie:

A 230% return for their shares in SMRT, really Ms. Saw and friends got the last laugh.

or at the convenience of commuters?

maybe the baking machinery will break down, causing many to forgo breakfast the next day

Thanks to the new leadership with great marketing vision.

Sunshine bread is now also making this in 20 flavours sold in all MRT outlets:

Old buns not nice taste. ;(

:D :D

It will be interesting to see if these 'God (the all powerful in SGP lighting sign one) anointed' are really so 'top class' to be able to survive outside of NTUC, GLCs, ministries.

Let me assure you she won't be kneading the dough with her hands.

:bsmilie:

BUT who knows who crap will go into the bread for cost cutting and increased profit?

Forsaking long term for short term interest. It wasn't a sustainable growth...if it was, she won't have become a baker.

I have no idea what shares is all about, but from what I saw, smrt shares hasn't gain much since like 5 years ago.

it irks me to think that someone could simply pocket millions of dollar and leave for another company just like that. leaving the sh.it behind.

Miss Saw must be happy that the big MRT Breakdown in 15Dec2011 has ended her agony.. a ticket for her to leave without giving any personal excuses.. just Like Marlboro...

It's funny really... some were calling for her head the moment the trains broke down and said she was shameless for staying on; now some are saying she is shameless for leaving **** behind... :dunno:
Can't please everyone.

not funny really. she seizes the opportunity when there is a big breakdown.

indeed, if she is responsible person, she should stay on to solve the problem.. not to leave and let other ppl solve the shi.t

there is always a saying "
leaving it easy.. staying back is more difficult"

a national infrastructure is helmed by any Tom and Jerry CEO is not funny

Well the point that I was really trying to emphasise is that if you are holding their shares since 2000 or when Ms. Saw first took the reins of SMRT Corps., the returns will be almost 180% now and along with dividend payouts, you'll be looking at approximately 230%.

Just stating a fact.

The problem is that she ran an engineering service company like a retail one and let the former slide like nuts. The end result is the endless litany of random errors from cost cutting etc.

The flip side is that the government also has a claim to the problem. They severely underestimated the transport load and did not make provisions to ensure the companies can cope with the passenger load. That and there was never true competition between the bus and MRT services. Right now, both companies have bus and train operations, and both tried to so-called "streamline" operations. While this works out to the benefit of the company in terms of efficiency, we lose because of the loss of redundancy in the system.

The end result is that the passengers lose.

Now granted we are a lot better than most systems abroad, but if the government wants to go trumpet the "world class" tag like we are perfect like nuts, they should expect that people so accustomed to perfection to complain when perfection was not delivered. What the companies need to do is review their procedures and up their maintenance frequency. I don't know how they are going to do it, but they better do it.

Agree with cks2K2... IIRC... you were also one of those who kept demanding for her to go... and now that she's gone... its her fault to again ??

Didn't she said in the beginning that she planned to stay to solve the problem.... but public keep demanding that she leave. So what do S'porean wants ??

That is the exact point I am making. No increase for the past few years. It is not a sustainable growth for the long term, not even in their duopoly(or more like monopoly) environment. Something has to give.

Since when the public gets what the public wants here?

Hello! This is Singapore.

We don't want her to go and we don't want her to stay.

We just want her to turn into a wax figure in Singapore Museum: :bsmilie:

same with politics. notable political commentators have remarked that the old *** government gave in to the request of Singaporeans. so the Singaporeans got spoon-fed a lot.

but then there came a time when the government could no longer accede to the request (and mostly because they were ridiculous). then the people called for the government to step down.

hypocrites :bsmilie:

.....Then came the rise of sedan chair bearers.

Can you notice how many of them are in high offices now? :bsmilie:
