Breakdown on North-South MRT Line

Too much emphasis on "SOP". When the fiasco happens, the press conference say not enough SOP or SOP not comprehensive enough.
I think they are on the wrong track. It is not about SOP. "Not on the SOP" or "no SOP" - does not mean you stop thinking and reacting to new and unpredictable situations. You don't become brain dead and just wait to be told what to do.

It is about empowerment of ground staff, so when they do something to alleviate the situation without waiting for top mgt instructions, they do not have to worry about being blamed or punished later.

I am more worried about public safety not breakdown. Do you still trust them ?

SMRT (Sorry Must Repair Train) services are still unstable and each time I ride, I'm saying prayers these days... :sweatsm:

In this current "Kia-Si" society, people are more worried about taking the blame then doing the right thing.

Some food for thought, within the article: TODAYonline | Singapore | Have we become a template nation?

This template culture appears fairly widespread. Media reports suggest that affected commuters were reliant on SMRT's bus bridging services. Many seemed at a loss at finding alternative ways of getting to their destinations or were counting on SMRT to do the necessary transfers; some were even desirous of fare refunds amid the congestion and chaos.

One hopes that there was not a "fixed template" operating in the commuters' minds as to how they ought to react to a service disruption. While one would naturally approach SMRT staff, it was evident the latter were overwhelmed and unable to attend to all commuters.

i'm waiting for an excuse to break the windows too you know. hope it breaks down with me inside :bsmilie:

I also start to carry a hammer in my bag when going to work. :bsmilie:

They normally let me through as I tell them it's my work tool and I'm a camera repairman. :bsmilie:

common sense, so rare it's a super power-this was my old signature. I think the hero is clubsnapper , here the news:

Man who smashed window says: It was just common sense

and my question : how come SMRT no audit one meh???? if got audit, what are they auditing????

get your facts right. the roof didnt "fell down and hit the repair guy".

if you know the fact, why not you share it with us??

sigh, immaturity.

Trying to recall facts here, forgive me if I get it wrong. Hong Kong's MTR trains are longer (have more cars per train), and the trains run faster as well. Had the MRT match the MTR in these two areas, perhaps the system won't be so strained?

i have never been to HK. but my frens said their MTR is better.. freq is 2 min they said.. i think if our mrt wanna match HK's, we need to change the rail..

MTR in HK at peak hour is a nightmare lols... Door closing till ppl rush in... driver need retry door close ~2-3 times than can go.

here is also another :)

NUTS (no u turn syndrome)

In Singapore, drivers are not allowed to make a U-turn unless a sign specifically allows them to do so, while in some other countries drivers may make U-turns freely so long as the 'No U-turn' sign is not present.

anything that is not SOP, requires green light from the higher ups. which in return, needs more green light from more higher ups.

its not just in SMRT really. schools too. i had my fair share of that.

Not unusual, same thing in Tokyo. Whenever I ride the MTR, I feel like it's a lean, mean machine. Trains run fast and efficient, and aircon is super cold. Maybe it's the very metallic look and feel of the stations and train interiors. The MRT, on the other hand, feels more toyish, with it's colorful seats and all.

Ya its like that.. Thats why Apple co-founder? said Apple never happens here.

Instead of benchmarking the standards of our world class transit system to the MTR, Tokyo Metro, etc. etc. We can perhaps further boost the ego of transit system operators if we compare it to something like those in the "Baghdad of Hudson". :bsmilie:
