Breakdown on North-South MRT Line

We r becoming like india n china where the infrastructure cant support the huge amount of ppl..

But at least they r big countries..

The 200k fine is not even half of the ceo 600k. Anyway, it is hard for me to have faith in garment so call charity since i never saw much of those who benefit from it as well as the past 2 charity scam and those interesting but petty logical rumour with the recent GE and PE.

omg, what happened?

omg, what happened?

some part of the roof fell down and hit the repair guy.

you should see the extreme tai-chi in action, the way they pushed the responsibility around really disgusted me.

this is the result of a one party rule.

everything is controlled, whatever the gahment say, we can only choose to believe what we want to believe in.

whether it's the truth or not, generally we don't know and won't know.

Even Tuck Yew can't wait to rush into the train. :bsmilie:

was at Somerset MRT just now about 10mins ago. Heard passengers from inside the train mentioned that there's Train fault at Orchard. Just to let you guys know.

:p

I just think if you have a CEO from DFS running the SMRT, what do you expect???

The thing she is the most famous for is setting up "shops" in MRT station. Common do you expect her to place emphasis on Engineering staff???

The board of directors should have anticipated this when they placed her on the helm. The CEO will be focused on revenue, opening retail spaces in MRT stations. What about the trains? What about maintenance?

Same for Chartered Semi conductor. They put an accountant as CEO so all he could do is to count money.... Look at where our Chartered Semi ended up....

I believe the background of the CEO is very impt. Different people will emphasize different things. If you put an Accountant as CEO, don't expect your company to have leading technology. simple as that.

If you put a CEO from DFS to run SMRT, you can expect better service, more shops in your MRT stations. Maintenance??? Technical Stuff??? common, who are you kidding...

You win some you lose some. It all depends on what your priorities are.

Does this mean models will be late for shoot ? :bsmilie:
At least now the excuse is legit.. lol

Trying to recall facts here, forgive me if I get it wrong. Hong Kong's MTR trains are longer (have more cars per train), and the trains run faster as well. Had the MRT match the MTR in these two areas, perhaps the system won't be so strained?

Chartered semi is a sad case... I think they have potential but they miss the chance...

Really need talent.. Not just anyone...

The train is overloaded and the rail cannot accept the extra weight of people, resulting
in breakdowns. There is a LIMIT as to the number of passengers the train is allowed to take in
to avoid breakdowns.

Do you have facts to back up that statement ?

Passengers riding on trains don't cause breakdowns, inadequate maintenance procedures, aging systems and complacency all contribute to breakdowns in any industry that revolves again anything mechanical.

Maybe the train tracks are overloaded, as when the system was first operational 24 years ago, less trains, fewer trains and longer intervals, now more trains, more passengers, faster intervals.

Perhaps the biggest factor in this fiasco, is lack of foresight and complacency by all of the agencies concerned.

As quoted by the CEO, we were never prepared for something like this, also means there has been no Risk Assessment or Hazop preformed on all the systems which form the MRT structure, to identify failure points and the consequences of those failures.

Cheers ....

Not sure if you're responding to my comment, but if there are more cars per train, won't the weight be distributed over a larger section of the track? Of course, as it is now, even if the tracks can take the extra weight, or even higher train speed, the stations are already built and can't be easily extended to accommodate the extra cars. Although they could have improved upon the 20 plus year old NSL and EWL design when they built the CCL and NEL.

for me it kinda makes sense.

5000kg across 1 meter vs 5000 kg across say 10 meters. pressure is different as weight per unit area is smaller for the latter case.

but thats just speculation.

how do you know that the train is overloaded??? Have you seen the train specifications?

get your facts right. the roof didnt "fell down and hit the repair guy".

if he's the repair guy, he probably didn't take enough care and the roof fell on him because of something he did or didn't do.

anyways... guys. why are you feeding soh the troll?

SMRT (Sorry Must Repair Train) services are still unstable and each time I ride, I'm saying prayers these days... :sweatsm:

i'm waiting for an excuse to break the windows too you know. hope it breaks down with me inside :bsmilie:
