I think i'm gonna have to ask Jim for commission considering I have about a dozen people a week asking me where to get them from :bsmilie:

Jim McGill sells them. He has a thread in the "Mas Sales" section (can do ClubSNAP search for "mcgill raynox"). You can get his contact details from there, and his website is www.mcgill.com.sg ;)

Hey man.. i was there(near Swan Lake area) on Monday too.. too bad my pics not as sharp as yours. Your pics are sharp and nice

Thanks, maybe the cloudy weather worked to my advantage. Let's see if my next batch can turn out just as well :)
I crop/resize my pics in Photoshop, then sharpen them (I always do after resizing).

Troyp , using 50mm F1.8 prime lens with any addtioanl macro filters?

he he he...thank you very much....you're very helpful to us!!

I just PM jim for the DCR250 and ask him about my lenses if this DCR250 can fit or still suitable for my nikon 18-200mm lenses b'coz the filter size is 72mm.

Do you used set-up ring to fit the DCR250 to your 50mm f/1.8(52mm-filter size)?

Raynox cannot work on your nikon 18-200 due to 72mm size
the adapter works only from 52mm-67mm
:)

I used the Raynox DCR250 on the 50mm prime lens

The 50mm F1.8 lens is 55mm, so the Raynox DCR250 clips in just nicely with no vignetting.

will 50mm with 49mm diameter have vignetting problem?
i going to use a 49-52mm stepup ring so my raynox250 can mount it.

I doubt there will be any problem. Jim McGill will know for sure.

thinking of buying raynox250 for my 50mm and tamron90mm use too.. PMed Jim McGill, pending his reply on the most current price and dealing method. ;)

Why don't you just call the 24-hr hotline number? Much faster that way. I've called up Jim last week in the afternoon, and got my close-up lenses the same evening.

Sorry for the OT, TroyP.

Troy the pics are great, good job man.
I was thinking of getting the 500D closeup lens, but now i might consider the Raynox 250 hahaa.

Is your 50mm + Raynox a better setup compared to a macro lens like the Tamron 90mm? Cos i noticed from other threads that you have or used to have that macro lens.

50mm + raynox 250 has a working distance of 8.5cm - 11.5cm.
A macro lens lets you shoot from much further away, so it is far more flexible and can take pics of insects you can't get that close to, like butterflies.

oh ok. but if i'm using say the 85mm prime lens, it should increase the distance of the lens to subject right.
hmm the Raynox is alot cheaper at 120 bucks, think i'm might get this combo also haha.. My 50mm is sitting at home doing nothing most of the time anyway. Thanks for ur reply.

I don't have an 85mm prime, but I have a 90mm macro lens.

90mm + raynox
13cm away (at 1:max) - max F32
11cm away (at 1:10) - max F36
8cm away (at 1:3) - max F45
5cm away (at 1:1) - max F64

18-105mm + raynox @ 105mm
12.5cm away (at infinity) - max F36
8cm away (at 0m) - max F36 - lots of vignetting

18-105mm + raynox @ 50mm
12.5cm away (at infinity) - max F32

50mm + raynox
11.5cm away (at infinity)
11cm away (at 1.5m)
9.5 cm away (at 0.7m)
8.5 cm away (at 0.45m)

Great macros!

I am using the raynox with a lumix superzoom. The magnification is quite extreme, and the DOF is paper thin. You have a nice combo there with your prime lens.
