Took the first vacation of the year and ended up in Bangkok, Thailand. It has been about 13 years since I've last been there, and even though so much have changed over the years, it's still a bustling city with pockets of surprises in every corner. :bsmilie: It gives me a very warm feeling as well; unlike what I felt in Saigon city. It's just a different type of warmth. Both cities are very nice in their own way, and I'm not sure if I can say I like one over the other. One thing is for sure; I came back very satisfied.
Sorry for the mini picspam, it's my mini backlog if you will.
Thailand is also celebrating the birthday of the 9th emperor God, which is a traditional Chinese festival every 9th Sept on the Lunar calendar. Streets and malls are filled with stalls of vegetarian food for the entire month, and devotees cleanse themselves spiritually by abstaining from meat for the entire month (even though the actual procession only lasts 9 days).
We wander and wonder
We get lost in the crowd
We camouflage ourselves
and we blend in
in the darkness of the night
amongst the chatter and shuffling
the honking and the clattering
we are all strangers in the dark
