Hahaha not sure i miss focus or wide open bit soft for this copy.
Taken around 10pm, not sure the lighting will affect the sharpness or not.

It looks soft...

I got the same lens and I find it soft wide open too. If I stop down to f2, it's very sharp. Maybe I got a bad one Waiting to meet up with bro Thoth to test out ...

At 1m, it looks good.


Moving back to 2m, I can start seeing the "glow" and softness when I zoom in.

Hi alvinat, what do you think about the performance of the lens? Is is soft while sharp enough for portrait shot? There was a Helios-44-3 floating around B&S a while ago, but I missed it... I might try my luck on the evil bay to see whether I can get a Helios 44 silver with 13 blades.

Is your copy converted to canon mount or in its original mount?
