Bokeh lens

seriously everyone's recommending lenses that mighttttt be probably outta TS' budget

Not really, Nikon 50mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4 are moderately priced. Even the 50mm f/1.2 is less than $1k. TS is using a Nikon D7000... really wonder why other recommended Canon/ Leica glasses :dunno:

My budget is about $300 to $500.. Is 50mm f1.4 about the range?

are you comfortable with the 50mm focal length?

I think AF 50mm f/1.4D is within the $500 budget or thereabouts.

There's a 50mm f1.2 going for less than 1k..? Where? :o looking for one!

because TS didn't state any budget.

hence "mighttttt". for all we know, TS was budgeting $200 for the lens.

Then there's only one choice. 50mm AF-D F/1.8

AI-S 50mm f/1.2 is still in production :) A rarity in this day and age of super-fast auto-focus lenses.

Might as well go for the 58mm f/1.2 Ai-S :) I saw one in EBay recently.

I don't quite like chunky peanut butter... :bsmilie:

I seriously recommend you to read the basics of how to get an blurred background picture and understand the fundamentals knowledge on DOF and aperture FIRST, then think f1.2, f1.4, f1.8, f2 etc...

Don't want to sound harsh, but +1 to this advice.
The term used is incorrect. There is no such thing as bokeh lens.
Bokeh is only the term used to refer to the quality of the out of focus (OOF) parts.
You are looking for a lens that can easily give shallow DOF.

The thing to get shallow DOF are :
Aperture (A)
Subject distance (D)
Bkgnd distance (BKD)
Focal length (FL)

Roughly their relationship is :

DOF = (A)(D)/(BKD)(FL)
