Hi, anyone who has send in their body for maintence? What is the average cost? :)

I wish i can ans your question but i haven't send in my 10D for general servicing yet. Planning to send it in by mid year, going to request for cleaning of focusing screen, viewfinder, CMOS sensor and replacement of shutter.

Estimated price should be a few hundred if u're including replacement of shutter.

Different body differnet price... I snet in 350D and was charged $25 for general cleaning of IS and LCD/viewfinder dust. $60 to replace shutter.

Only $60 to replace the shutter?

I should have sold my 350D at a much higher price. :bsmilie:

Quoted from Canon, because they tell me shutter rated at only 40,000. So $60 seems reasonable to me when they told me so.

Then does anyone know shutter life count for 10D?

That include labour? or jsut parts alone...

$25 is quite a reasonable price, considering it as a general maintence after usage for 2 years. :)

Thank for the info ..

Sending my body and L lens for service after CNY

how long will the maintenance at nikon for the maintenance?

Depends on the number of jobs before you. Normally if your equipment needs opening up, this might take up to a week or more. But if it's for CCD cleaning, it could take less than 20mins. I had mine done in under 10mins (Maybe I got lucky as it was during a weekday during office hours)! :bsmilie:

Parts are cheap. Labour expensive. Labour charge is at least $120 if the camera need to be disassembled for repair.

For exterior repair like replacement of LCD cover and hotshoe, the labour is free; parts charge only.

Charges for calibration is  I reckon.

nsc quoted me 300 before gst for maintenance and servicing - the camera problem was more serious than i thought. should i go ahead with it? or are there cheaper but reliable places where i can do it? am really tight on money now...

What's your camera and problem? :dunno:
D2Xs, I'll say go for it. P&S, I say no point liao, go buy a new one! :bsmilie:

it's a d70s. lens prob with body prob, includes servicing and maintenance. what say you?

I assume warranty is no longer valid. For $300, go for it if you're planning to continue to use your D70s. Else, have a cam, but cannot use also no point. :bsmilie:

true... it's been through quite a lot in the past year but i still wanna use it...

thanx dude!

Then in this case, what's $300 for the sentimental value that it holds? ;p
 on you! Shoot, learn and enjoy more with your cam!
