I just wanna share with you this bad experience that I had at the BnS.
I read a post for a camera that interest me. So I tried to bargain immediately. The seller agreed at my price. We were just arranging time and venue of our meeting and I recalled sms'ing "It would be best If I can get it tomorrow because my son is celebrating his birthday this weekend, so this cam will be put to use on that day". . Then after a while this seller replied that another a bidder has given a HIGHER PRICE. The seller lamented that he can still let go of the cam if I can match the higher price. I'm not sure if he's telling the truth or just trying to increase the price then I said "my price stays and I thought we had a deal". The seller then replied that another NEW bidder has given a higher price and preferable to his schedule then said "sorry". I find this very unethical to his part, changing a deal from one to another. I was so pissed that I didn't get a good night sleep.

This is normal for BnS. Who doesn't want to sell it at a higher price and earn more if there is a higher offer.

but once agreed on the price ...should have stick to it even some better offer come in later...if not in the rush or cash flow issue ..why not just wait for more offers before cfm the deal..

Let us know the nick, we shall avoid him in the future

Bad practice shouldn't be 'normalized'

If you guys had struck a confirmed 'DEAL' as in he already agreed to sell it to you at a decided price, then tries to get a higher price from you claiming someone offered a better deal, sounds to me like he's screwing you.

Did you keep all the SMS?

This happens way too often and something like this should have never been allowed to become a 'normal' practise.

Perhaps you could try contacting the seller to give him a chance to do the right thing.

cheer up, why don't look at it on a brighter side, you need not to pay any single cent to see the true color of a person.

anyway, happy birthday to your boy.

yes, we shld not allow such unethical practice to become "normal" here...we don't want to be known as the "sim lim of cyberspace"..wld be good to have a list of nicks of these people.

Thanks for the sentiments. He might have taken the BID which is $50 more from mine

True.

And also, Happy Birthday to your son!

Don't let this spoil the day's celebrations.

I think its unethical and bad form, but ultimately there's nothing to hold the seller to the deal.
Only thing within your control not to do the same thing to others when its your turn to sell items.

You'll be surprised; a lot of people have gotten so used to it, they actually accept it as a kind of 'what to do, that's just the way it is' situation and not stand up for what's right. Another side of the coin is that there will be resistance in threads like these because some will want to preserve an environment where such practises are allowed and tolerated.

Always remember the golden rule:)

Hi, I feel lucky for you, think about it again, if got the deal but something wrong with the camera, do you think he can answer you? Anyway, like other brother say, just all us control do not do the same thing to others when we sell our items.

I'm for the suggestion of posting up the names of bad sellers/buyers.

Unless there is an affordable legal avenue and people are willing to take them, the only option is to let it go (and possibly be guilty of hiding the facts and encouraging such practises), or stand up and name names and list details (if one has the evidence).

It's never easy, doing the right thing in life, because not everyone will understand. Some, in fact, will condemn you for stepping up to the plate or even call you a whistle-blower or try to ridicule your actions.

Thanks for the encouraging words.

SMS the seller, informing him of this thread, and giove him a chance to apologise for his actions or make it right.

Meanwhile, save the weekend for your family's celebrations and decide what you want to do on Monday.

BVelieve me, these matters can embroil you.
