Blogshop photography service fee

opps... sorry...

Anyway, it is good for the TS to see it from Photographer's perspective so TS can have better idea on the work involve.

At the end of the day, a great quality product sells a lot better then a mediocre one...

I guess for some situations simply don't justify the spending of hire photographer, like blogshop, the whole set up store is very cost, as well as maintaining it, and many of their customers purchasing goods from blogshop is because of "great value". So I don't expect blogshop owners to fork out a few hundreds or thousands on photography itself. it will kill the business first before it takes off. lol

but this does not mean photographers need to lower yourself to meet their budget, just accept the reality of taking such assignment will not be profitable at all.

Understand that... but sometimes, it is better to pinch yourself and spend beyond your mean for better long term rewards... It is part of the risk management in business really...

Stay safe and stay in comfort zone and I can assure one thing for sure is, the business isn't going anywhere decent...

Agree with both Catchlights and Hart, photography is not cheap and cannot be cheap. While blog shop starters are trying to start a business, so are photographers doing businesses.

'No money' was never an excuse for anyone to get anything free or cheap. Who boards a cab and tell the driver Aiyah no budget leh, $2 to jurong can or not?

Entrepreneurs with foresight will know what are the things to spend on. Marketing and advertising happens to consistently top the list.

Your products can be crap, but if photos look good...

That's why fashion photographers and stylists are expensive.

;)

If i remember correctly, I spend 70% of my first year profit on Advertising and Marketing...

Clients who have a lot of products to photograph think photographers can offer bulk rate. Some photographers are also willing to accept/propose bulk rate. To photographers, all I can say is, please do your sums carefully before quoting. And 'future promises of return business' is not something that can be calculated so leave that off the table.

Yeah, that's right. Agree with.

Photographers please beware.

Not even start shooting straight away ask you for discount, next time will ask you give even more discount.
This time this job you lugi money, next time more jobs for you and you will lugi more money.

yes, agree with you, photographers need to spend on marketing and advertising.

yeah, using no budget is a very lame excuse, what it really mean is I DON'T HAVE ANY INTENTION TO PAY YOU.

may I suggest a way: P&L way?

calculate how many more units of your blogshop item eg Item A has to be sold to recoup the costs.
If you have a blogshop already running, calculate how long it would take to sell this number of items.

If you don't have a blogshop running, you may have to estimate (tricky!!! err on the conservative side)

If you are doing fashion, and the duration required is half a season long or more, perhaps you might decide to seek lower cost for photography.
I am unschooled in the business of fashion but whenever I have to decide whether it's "worth" it, I am unable to approach the matter subjectively so hence must resort to some crude costs analysis as above.

some choose to charge by per photo basis... for me i will charge as per normal... which is hourly base.

Some might choose to charge both... time basis and per photo basis.
