Recently (on Monday), I bid for the Nikon AFS 18 -70 DX lens and seller agreed to sell me with $470 and around 8 pm that person call me for to arrange the pick up place. but around 11pm that same person SMS me and told me that he "accidently" drop that lens and spoiled. So the deal was cancelled.

But later I heard from some member that he sold this lens to another person with $500.

I don't want to name names . But that person know himself who he is and if all of you want to know check the recent Nikon AFS 18-70 DX lens selling thread, you will know who was selling.

Please beware of that person.

Sorry about your experience.......are you sure the new buyer didn't know he/she got a broken lens??? Just kidding.....I think it is time to place some feedback system for buyers and sellers as well......dear moderator is this possible?

HI there,

I don't think you are the only one being treated like this. I've sell and buy quite a few items but never experience the bad until today.

Agreed with the price, promised to meet at 10:30pm, but he never even sms me earlier to tell me that the stuff already sold earlier. Only when i saw his thread and it's already sold.

Sigh... it's still ok if he sms me if somebody offer higher bid. it makes me wait and he never come.

I'm have buy and sell quite a number of stuff, you can ask the people who i bought and sell.

Cheers

Well,

really know how it feels. But then again, its always seller's decision to sell to the highest bidder if possible, who wouldn't right? But seems that this time round, the higher bid came after the buyer confirms selling it to you.

If he does really have a higher bid later, he should have the courtesy to call and explain to you that he just received a higher bid and if its ok with you. And not to invent a lie and twist and turn his way out of a deal.

I encountered several occassions when such incidents happen after the seller already reserves the item for my bid. But I do receive a direct call from the seller asking if its ok since he got one higher bid. Well, of course I do curse and swear inside me, but then, what the hack, there should always be another deal somewhere in this forum right? .....

But a rating system for potential seller's and buyer should be in place. Something similar to ebay might help. ;)

I would like share the news on ST yesterday. One Singaporean whom pray pray with many sellers in eBAY is fined S$27,000  . Online auctions are no more joke, be serious :nono: . If you have too much free time take some pictures and share with other ;)

ok lar. my first experience here also not pleasant lar.

but still, this is a lovely place, where poor student like me can buy good stuff cheap. :) and won't lose much if want to upgrade. :)

keep shopping... don't get sad...

I don't mind if that person tell me truthfully. That person even told me earlier that he will deliver the lens to my place if I would pay extra $5!!!.

some ppl are just aiming for money and forgeting their human morals...

I bought from four different seller, four different items before . All are very nice people. One person even give me photo magazines.

But this particular one, no courtesy at all.

I think this thread should have served its purpose of telling all potential buyers and sellers to be truthful.

Why tell a lie, I believe everyone here is understanding enough if things are explained and clarified upfront. Don't go hiding behind a lame excuse hopping that you will get away with it. Even if you do get away, you need to live by your conscience.

At the end, I think it boils down to common sense on how to treat people, even if you don't know them. Personally, I feel it's only human to change your mind at the last minute bcos of a higher bidder. But I think it is equally important that one is frank about it... and the buyer should expect this to happen. But then it's up to him or her to decide whether to top that higher bid or drop the purchase. To just keep quiet/act blur and hide or run when there is something to be explained head-on is quite typical of the culture here but it's not a good one in this case.

However, the above might be ok only if the buyer is not inconvenienced too much. If she or he is like already on the way down to meet the seller, say driving or on MRT, then last minute, the seller backs out just to earn that extra $10-20 from another buyer, that's poor handling of relationships and speaks badly of the mentality depicted by some people here.

Of cos if it's a substantial amount, say another buyer willing to fork out $100 or more, it's trickier... up to the seller to explain to the original buyer why the deal might be broken. In this scenario, it's tough... maybe the seller should use part of the extra cash to placate the disappointed original buyer by compensating him/her for the time/traveling...but by how much? Though I doubt such a scenario is common.

Hi, Ok, hope you realise these things do happen. There are good people, bad people....learn to let go, and try not to think about it anymore......you have been thinking since monday night about this......it is no good for your heart (blood pressure) to keep thinking about it....just think this way: that person's action will have bad consequences for him later on.......when you sow bad seeds, bad will come.....let go, let go.......

Nope...
as mention in the buy and sell forum, CS shall and will not be involved in any of the transaction that goes on in here.
