First i apologise if i'm posting it on the wrong section of this forum.

I just have no idea where to post and since it's canon related...
Few days ago,i saw a deal by rebelxsii for 50d at 800.we meet up directly after my work to deal his 50D that was with him for 2/awhile he said. He claim it as very good condition.i ask him send to canon to have a check before dealing,he say too far and he is not desperate until need to go there and rassure me 101% its in mint good condition.he.also.say.shutter count is below 10k,before i met him i alredy found he has previously try to help his friend sell a 50d just a while back at only 780.he say it has a visible user mark.
When i meet him that day,i saw the mark where he say his friend camera was,i ask.if he can.lower.price he say cannot.than i try to see shutter count by taking a few pics.it show 3000+ so i din fault him.he say he going to buy 5d so he selling to raise money..so he mean thats his camera and not his friend.so i ok.than back home when i charge my battery, the charger was blinking,i msg him to ask if its norm and up till now he din reply my msg.his camera battery after full charge, use to browse menu than low batt..its spoilt i believe.i went internet to see if there are ways to check 50d shuttle count.i found it and use it.to my horror,it has alrady taken 17k of pics!
I ask him why he say below.10k up till now he also no reply
I do not wish to see anyone else encountering the same problem as me. I search his thread and saw he selling alot.of stuff so b careful.this guy not honest and he knows.i am a newbie..Thank you

Hope i didn't waste 5-10min of your time.
Have a great day ahead

could it be honest mistake? 17k aint that bad. - whats shutter life of 50d?
10k to 17k is not a huge difference especially since 50D has fast FPS. dont feel too bad abpout that.

although the battery being spoilt sucks though. hwo can you use camera without battery. lol.
he should replace it.

1) Blinking charger - please refer to your 50D Manual. It can be downloaded here. http://media.the-digital-picture.com/Owners-Manuals/Canon-EOS-50D-Manual.pdf

For the linked copy, kindly turn to page 24 of the PDF file. The battery charger light will blink if the camera battery is below 90% charge. It is NORMAL.

2) For the battery thing, I do not know the context. If you browsed for 5 minutes and the battery was low then something is wrong with the battery (or the camera) - suggest you check it out either by borrowing someone else's battery which works fine and see if the same thing happens. If that's the case, then the error lies with the camera. If the battery's fine, then buy a new one, and presto problem solved.

3) For shutter count, if indeed he did not give you an accurate estimate that is indeed not so nice of him. But once again, 50D shutter should be rated at 100K (or 50K, but should be 100K).. Considering that he gave a potential shutter count of 9999, which was acceptable to you, and actual was 7K + 1 more, this is just 7% more. It is not good, but I won't lose any sleep about it. To be fair, sometimes some sellers are kuku and do not know how to check, so they just agar agar give you a number.

4) Have you tried contacting the seller to work out the battery and shutter issue? #1 is probably your problem.

Well i just feel thT he lied in a thread few weeks back say helping friend to sell.now he tell me he selling to raise fund to buy 5d.than as i search i realise he alrdy bought a 5d before.
The shuttle count is ok but he sld he honest and not state low shuttle count below 10 k..than battery cant hold charge.hopefully no other issues arise..he state camerain mint condition but a scratch mark at live viewer.ask him send canon to verify he say he not so desperate..can post his contact??all these add up to dishonest.if only one issue than ok lah..

Aftet his sale,he din even reply my sms.the charger thing i know ler.he din reply.and he is not a kuku seller as this are things he complaint against others before .u can search for that thread also call beware of this seller

Just to add a piece of my mind, people who agree on a price and meet up, and then ask for price reduction on the spot really, really, really irk me. So you're not really a model buyer either, so to speak.

Sorry, I didn't really get what was going on up in your first post.

So he said in another thread that his friend's camera had a user mark, but for this sale, he said it was mint condition?

Do you mind linking the two threads? A little lazy to search. Would be great to give people a clearer idea.

Anyways, my advice is to call him - and give it a little time. Sometimes people have to work overseas and actually go on holidays, so try to give him the benefit of the doubt and try for a few more weeks. After all, it's not a foregone conclusion that he really wants to screw you , i.e. he did not state outright that he did not want to help you out with your issues.

In any case, the worst case scenario as I see it is a faulty 50D body. It's more likely that the battery has problems, so the likely outcome is that you buy a third party battery (make sure it works with the original charger - come to think of it, maybe the charger could be problematic too) and that's not too expensive.

It is unfortunate if it came to that, but sadly, that's the risk you do have to face when playing the second-hand market. To be fair, battery issues are not something you can detect right away. Cheers.

would be better if theres more info about the seller, so everyone can take note =)

If you didn't see what was going on up in his first post, then why blame him for negotiating a price upon meetup? You didn't even read carefully in the first place.

TS, I however believe this doesn't belong in this subforum, and should most probably be moved to the Consumers' Corner.

ya, i really really dislike this kind of people also... meet up already then say his no good that no good... with the aim of wanting a discount.. pui!

17K and you are complaining? :dunno:

Gd point there sequitur...

I also bought my 50D from BnS..responded to a thread and thot it was a reasonable buy..seller said SC was around 8K and camera was in good condition with box and all accessories..at meetup i brought my laptop along with program to check SC..the camera was indeed in a very good condition..batt till today still holds charge very well..but when i plug in to check SC..it was 29K+! Even the seller was surprised by it..so i asked for a discount and he relented..though not alot! Heh heh!

So far the camera has served me very well..and i dun nearly use it as much..500-800 shots a month..the only thing now is sometimes i get the sticky shutter issue that is famed with 40D and 50D..no biggie though as i'm not a professional..and it doesn't happen everytime..just once in a while..

So my advise to u is just let it go..as long as the camera still works just enjoy it..3rd party batt only $20-$25..i also bought 2 chromage ones and no problem..the savings i had..even if the shutter fails in a couple of years time..it would already have been worth it cos it helped me along in learning and enjoying photography!

And your purpose of pointing this out after I've said it already and apologised for the mistake is? :bsmilie:

please be careful if the seller phone no is +44..it shld be a fake seller

ya same thinking too lol. few scratches won't affect the camera function. if got scratch then either accept it or walk away from the deal, how to discount for the scratch? one scratch then minus 50 dollar?

My experience in BnS so far so good. Most are honest in their description. Some will low ball even before deal lol, very interesting to see.
