Last week i purchased a Canon 50d from Spade92 (97809447)

Link on BNS http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/buy-...-2-orig-batt-1-third-party.html?highlight=50d

all went well and i always ask him through phone an97809447d PM regarding the shuttercount
he always says its around less than 15k actuations
so the deal proceed i handed him the money and he handed me the camera
everything went fine with the camera until i check the shuttercount of the 50d
and to my surprise its a whooping 44k Wow almost 50% of the cameras rated actuation
i tried to sms him and call him to ask for a refund but hes not answering the call/sms

here's how he looks like

Beware of this Scam artist

44K isn't exactly "whooping" if I were to say. The camera is perfectly fine right? Why is there a need for a refund?

Its not a matter of whether its working perfectly or not. The fact that the seller has misled the buyer by mentioning the sc is only 15k when in reality is 44k has affected the buyers decision to proceed with the sale. To be reasonable, I would give a buffer of 10-20% more for the sc based on the seller's estimate.

When I bought my 60D, i informed the seller that I would be checking the shutter count from eoscount when we meet up. Its jus $2+ which I paid for it. It was a pleasant transaction to have a cooperative seller.

My question is would you pay $650 for a 50D with 44k actuations or would you prefer one with 15k for the same price?

I would prefer the 15K of course but if I'm met with the same problem, I wouldn't go as far as to ask for a refund. It's not like the seller sold a piece of defective product to him, if the shutter count matters so much, why didn't the buyer check it when they meet up?

I find it amusing that now TS is trying to sell off this cam now just because of the shutter count!

The thing is the seller is not honest thats all
he could mention that the shutter count is 44k
if the shutter fails it means additional cost for replacing the shutter right?

The seller is a long time CS member and sold a lot of items here
thats why i trusted him through his prev item sold

Shutter count is not like ammo where it counts down. It is just a statistical average. A shutter can die before that, or way after that number.

Why worry?

move on and learn from ur mistake

next time will be better if u get a copy screenshot of the shutter count or at least invoice from canon that stated the shutter count

i been in cs for many years. i am always been on the other side, i hv a credibility to maintain so i hv to service my customer or even do an extra mile if there is any problem with e camera. meet with diff ppl and some ppl chk properly until it last 2 hours, some ppl only chk 2 minutes.

i think probably the seller bought it second hand also, since the cond is still good and he only used it over the weekend, so he might thought its only 15k shutter count.

honestly 44k is not much, as long u can still use it to shoot.

i know u feel cheated, but i dont think the seller with get back to u again...

so piece of advice, try to do a proper chk next time.

how often you shoot until you need to replace shutter?
I mean, are you holding on to a camera for more than 5 years?

yes, we do hear somebody ever replace shutter of their before, but it is not as common everyone done that before,

anyway, for a 5 years old camera clock 44k shutter counts is consider very low usage, and you only get it for $650.00?
so if like what you have said the shutter will fail at 100k shutter count, you only pay less than $13 for every 1k shutter counts,

and if you shooting 500 frames per week, that this camera can last you for another two years.

so yes, the number given to you is not accurate, but shutter counts is not everything, if you would to utilize the camera fully, you can make your $650 well spent, instead selling it at loss of $100.00 now.

I see your B&S thread is closed, not sure the seller responded to you or you manage to sell it or keep it.

anyway, just move on.

this thread closed.
