I have finally bought D700 on Saturday. Thanks guys and gal for helping to make decision indirectly. So far so good, a big jump from my previous D70.

Yea, the photos over here further convinced me that I have made a right choice, just have to wait for IT show now, hopefully I can get a better deal from the usual shops at that time.

D700 doesnt belongs to the mass market... so i doubt IT show will bring down its price by a lot, futher more, its a new model...

Not my "best pictures", just "test pictures" :) - Macros I took to test my 105mm lens on my
D700. These have not been PP-ed in any way. The first one wrongly focused on the beard of the figurine, but I am including it nevertheless here to give a sense of the size of the figurine. It's about 10cm in height or thereabouts.

How is the 450D even comparable with the D700? It's two different class of cameras.

@subzero: Congrats on your new cam, which lense did you get along with it?

Here are some pics taken from my recent trip to Cairo with the D700 Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 lens.

Thank u... I am using my existing lens at the moment and will KIV 24-70mm due to low budget. Currently using 80-200AFS and 50mmf1.4

Hope 24-70mm price will go down with economy and by then i've build up fund for that.

Another test shot hand held, blast ISO to 5600, shutter speed to 1/125 @ f5. Quite like the starburst effect on the street lamp.

Power cam....;) What lens are you using?
F5 and you managed to get starburst off a street lamp? I usually get such effects only from small apertures.

I use 50mm f1.4d. Now i see not so much of a problem taking night pics with hand held.

Next time if i travel and when there is no luxury of time, i'll just set cam to auto ISO, set limit to 6400. Let the camera decide ISO while i can just play with shutter speed and f-stop, that is really amature enough
